The young officers Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima receive a mysterious capsule from a ship that made an emergency landing on Mars and return with it to Earth. It contains humanity's last hope: the planet Iscandar on the other side of the Magellan Galaxy has the technology to defeat the Gamilos and restore the planet. The space battleship Yamato is entrusted with this task, but they have only one year before humanity ends.

It’s been three years since Earth’s revitalization. With Gamilan assistance, Captain Susumu Kodai participates in an operation to retake a floating continent base that’s been seized by a mysterious enemy.
Humanity is walking a questionable path. With the former crew of the Yamato having experienced phantasmal visions, Kodai takes it upon himself to investigate the phenomenon further.
Kodai meets with a Gamilan ambassador who informs him about Goddess Teresa. If they want to respond to her ethereal call, Kodai and the rest of Yamato’s crew will have to take an enormous risk.
Preparations to launch the Yamato are a go, but the crew faces some heavy resistance.
Word gets out regarding Yamato’s launch, so Andromeda intercepts. An intense confrontation ignites between battleships that will put the audacity of both captains to the test.
The 11th planet has suffered tremendously at the hands of the Gatlantis fleet. As the closest potential responder, Yamato warps in to help.
