It's 1918, and Russia is plunged into chaos. Three Polish soldiers serving in different armies – Bronek, Władek and Józef – face each other in battle.
March 1920. Władek is posted in eastern Mazovia. Bronek discovers Warsaw's bohemian side. Józef works in the intelligence service and falls in love.
Bolshevik Aleksandr Sribielnikov launches subversive actions in Poland. As the Kiev mission begins, Józef and Władek are sent to the Ukrainian front.
Władek receives the Order of Virtuti Militari from Marshal Piłsudski. Józef and Jadwiga get married. Bronek and Aleksandr struggle with big problems.
Władek stays at the Olszyński estate, where he tries to get closer to Zosia. Józef still hasn't realized that Jadwiga is not who she claims to be.
Lulu visits Bronek in prison and reassures him. Jadwiga receives instructions from Sabina. Aleksandr must flee to the East. Józef notices something.
Counterintelligence closes in on Jadwiga's identity. Aleksandr and Tkaczenka's unit tortures a Polish officer, making him reveal valuable information.
Józef heads to the front, leaving Tomek with friends. Bronek is sent to a penal company. Olszyński joins the cavalry. Only women remain at the estate.
Bronek's penal company ends up behind the Bolshevik troops. Józef still doesn't trust Jadwiga. Miecio's fiancée, Pola, wants to become a nurse.
Tkaczenka's unit enters Dąbrówka; looting and rapes ensue. Józef decodes an intercepted Bolshevik telegram. Piłsudski develops a counterattack plan.
Aleksandr is admitted to the Bolshevik infantry unit. Władek's unit finds an unconscious girl. Polish counterintelligence uses Jadwiga again.
The Bolsheviks take Radzymin. Zosia learns some new skills. Bronek takes advantage of the help of an old friend to organize an escape from a POW camp.
Władek, Bronek, Józef, Teofil and Zosia enter Dąbrówka with their squadron. The results of Soviet occupation are horrifying and bloody battles ensue.
