1992Frank Sandford has big hopes for his pop duo, Blue Heaven, but his home life is less than satisfactory. His father, Jim, is a local hard man whose favourite son is in prison, while his mother can only be described as the perfect match. Despite the lack of parental support he is determined that he should succeed as a pop star and that his favourite football team, West Bromwich Albion, will win the cup!

It's the 'Song for Albion' competition and Frank has entered a song by Blue Heaven. When he finds out that his dad has 'secretly fixed it so that all other acts are crap' he determines to win ... but he has reckoned without the replacement for Big Larry!
"Dirty" Eddie Nichols is in town with his band and Frank is keen to see him. However, he's not the only one, his mother is also quite a fan too. To make things worse, Roache takes up an invitation to join Nichols' band when an accident lays low their keyboard player. Is this the end of Blue Heaven or will fate take a hand?
Blue Heaven attract attention from a promo video producer, who in turn attracts attention from Frank because she has a 'nice arse'! When she suggests that his family should be involved in a video feature of the band he is crestfallen but he agrees because he believes it will help him get the girl.
