1983Boone is a dramatic television series which was broadcast on NBC from 1983 to 1984. It starred Tom Byrd and Barry Corbin. Byrd played teenager Boone Sawyer, who aspires to a career in rock and roll music, despite the advice of his stern father, Merit Sawyer, played by Corbin, who wants Boone to join him in the automobile repair business. The setting of the series is Tennessee in the early 1950s, when great changes began to occur in popular music, with the rise of Elvis Presley. Ten weekly episodes began airing on September 26, 1983, and three remaining segments were broadcast in the summer of 1984, the last on August 11. The series was created by Earl Hamner, Jr. Ronnie Claire Edwards, an Oklahoma City native who played Corabeth Godsey, the bossy wife of storekeeper Ike Godsey in The Waltons, portrayed Aunt Dolly Sawyer in Boone. William Edward Phipps played her husband Link Sawyer, the owner of Link's Orchid Lounge, where Boone and his friend, Rome Hawley, sometimes performed. Other stars included Elizabeth Huddle as Boone's mother, Faye, who wanted Boone to commit to the ministry, as his older brother, Dwight, had done prior to Dwight's death in World War II. Julie Anne Haddock was cast as Amanda; Robyn Lively, Banjo; and Amanda Peterson, Boone's young sister, Squirt Sawyer.

Boone confronts his parents with his decision to make music his career, with or without their support. Mr. Johnson dies and leaves his guitar to Boone. At the funeral Boone's parents announce they will support him in any career he chooses.
Boone is injured in an explosion at the airport, but his music takes on a new dimension when he develops a friendship with singer Lucky Parsons.
Boone and Rome's friendship is tested when they meet a beautiful 17-year-old bonde girl.
Boone and Rome discover an orphaned girl living in a burned-out cabin.
Boone gets into trouble with the law and almost misses his chance to perform at a war monument dedication.
Boone gets involved with a woman who has a five-year-old son and runs moonshine for her ex. Boone's parents are arrested and he puts himself in danger to protect the woman and her son.
Rome gets drafted and Boone enlists so they can be together. Boone fails the physical and is rejected. As Rome prepares to leave he hears the Korean War is over. While he is celebrating his motorcycle falls, crushing his knee and preventing him from going into the army.
Boone and Rome help thwart a crooked record producer.
Boone and Rome miss the senior prom to accompany Mr. Johnson to a nightclub.
Cousin Geneva leaves her husband and comes to Nashville to get Boone to help her launch a music career. Her first appearance does not go very well, but Boone discovers she has a talent for sewing. Geneva's husband joins her as she begins her new career as a seamstress.
