2001Leap Years is a 2001 drama television series that aired on the Showtime cable network. The show was created by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, who had created the American version of the series Queer as Folk. It followed a group of friends in New York City. Set in the main in 2001, the show was uniquely structured as a series of flashbacks to 1993 and flashforwards to the then-near future 2008.

1993: Beth and Joe have a close encounter. Josh announces that he is going to ask Beth to marry him. 2001: Gregory gets offered a job at a newspaper and has to do a story on Beth. Joe discovers there is more to his case then he thinks. 2008: Althena tells Gregory that in order to have closure with Gregory and their past together, they have to have sex one last time.
1993: Beth is torn between her feelings for Joe and Josh's marriage proposal. Joe discovers that Josh's father is being sued. Gregory prepares for sex scenes in his play. 2001: Joe's carrer starts to pick up. Athena threatens to sue Gregory. Beth deals with pressure over Joe's success. 2008: A Tragedy strikes while a romance is rekindling.
1993: After his film goes up in flames, Gregory sleeps with Peter. Joe searches for Carlito and the missing computers. 2001: Josh videotapes himself with a prostitute and Tammy. Spencer suggests that Beth publish her journal. 2008: Athena tells Gregory that she's having his baby.
1993: Greogry continues to have an affair with Peter. Athena wants to move in with Gregory. Joe hires a detective to help find Carlito. 2001: Josh's father gets ahold of Josh's videotape of himself with a prostitute and Tammy. Beth decides to publish her journal. 2008: Gregory wants Athena to have an abortion.
