Ninety-year-old Burt proposes to Rose, 79, who claims that romance does not often happen at their age. Will the path of true love run smoothly?
The residents are keen to find out what happens when heartbroken Burt goes to visit his son in France. Rose announces that the engagement is off, and ex-football referee Ken gets back on his feet.
In the next 20 years, the over-80s will be the fastest-growing age group in the country, with more people in this group than any other. Super-fit Brenda, 93, is still doing the splits, while laconic Jim, 80, is content to live a quiet life with his cat at a retirement village in Milton Keynes.
