1993Zabaan Sambhalke is a Hindi sitcom. An engineer Mohan Bharti is forced to teach Hindi at a language school. His students are people from all corners of the country and the world, exchanging cultures and lost in translations. It is the Indian version of the British sitcom Mind Your Language (1977).

NIL's Principal Miss Dixit gets some CCTV cameras installed throughout the institute which Mohan believes is an intrusion of the students' and his privacy. In the protest of the gratuitous surveillance, Mohan along with the class concocts a plan to teach Miss Dixit a lesson.
An NRI lures NIL's peon Chaturvedi into acquiring a job overseas for huge sum of money. Chaturvedi now daydreams of being super rich and employing the students and staff of NIL's. However, his short-lived dream gets broken when he realises that the NRI that offered him the job is in fact a con artist.
In an attempt to tighten NIL's expenditure, Principal Miss Dixit shortens the pantry and housekeeping supplies. Following the orders, peon Chaturvedi dilutes the phenyl in an empty milk bottle, so that it can last longer. Chaos follows when everyone mistakes the similar looking phenyl bottle for milk's and adds it to their tea which leaves everyone speechless.
Makkhan Singh buys a lottery ticket and dreams of winning five crore rupees. While he builds castles in the air, everybody makes fun of his optimism and they're all thoroughly shocked when his lottery number is called out on the radio. But winning doesn't come so easy. Someone is lurking around the corner to forcefully claim the prize.
Professor Mohan gets humiliated at a job interview. Infuriated, he takes out his anger on every person at his institute. He wakes up the next day and is relieved to know it was all a dream. Principal Miss Dixit misses her lover Anatoli Molatov. One day, Molatov visits the institute after his flight to Bangkok gets delayed. In an attempt to hug him, overjoyed Miss Dixit runs towards him and hits her head to a cupboard, loses her memory and starts acting like a kid. The more she hangs out with people the more difficult she gets to handle.
Popat Dalal, an ace salesman, comes to NIL with a bag full of assorted goodies. Everyone convinces him to take admission in their academy to improve his Hindi language. With his excellent convincing skills, Dalal gets admitted for free. Meanwhile, the students are worried about their upcoming test and they ask their new friend to convince their teachers to cancel it.
A ventriloquist takes admission at NIL to learn Hindi and entertains the class with his silly jokes and comments. All's fun and games until the dummy suddenly starts speaking without the ventriloquist and scares the daylights out of everyone.
Mohan Bharti is invited to give an audition for a newsreader for BVC channel. He is ecstatic about the news but soon finds out that all his students have also applied for the same post. He then teaches his students to read Hindi news report in class and complete chaos ensues at the actual auditions.
Qawwali lover Mr. Keki informs the class that there's a qawwali competition and the winners will get a hefty cash prize. Thinking he can send some money to his mother, Professor Mohan agrees to write poetry and takes part in the competition while his students decide to help him.
A filthy rich Nawab arrives at NIL to take admission for his parrot. He wants his bird to learn Hindi and is willing to pay a hefty donation for the same. Professor Mohan is furious at the thought of having to teach a parrot, and a naughty, impolite one at that. Watch the episode to find out how everyone deals with this strange situation.
A new film actor hangs up WANTED posters of himself as a publicity stunt and enters NIL pretending to be a deadly thief. Alert NIL dwellers overpower him and call the police. Once they find out that he's merely an actor, they release him. Watch what happens when another thief, a real one this time, enters the institute and no one takes him seriously.
Pandit Latthapande, an astrologer, feeds lies to people and takes money from them. He tells Mr. Vaswani that he will die at the hands of a friend. Mr. Vaswani gets paranoid by this revelation and suspects every person in the institute of wanting to kill him. NIL students then unite to help him get over his fear and teach a lesson to the fake pandit.
Professor P. K. Sheshadri, a raucous psychologist, visits NIL for serving his research on agitation and takes on Mohan's class. As the Professor annoying experiments start to pester everyone at NIL, Mohan, the class teacher, must re-establish his authority and show everyone who's the boss.
NIL's trust's board of directors decide to close down NIL but Principal of NIL's Miss Dixit solely opposes the decision. Then the antsy board members get two local goons admitted at NIL to raise havoc and get Miss Dixit on board with the trust's decision. Now Mohan pull a trick out of his hat and rescue NIL.
To fulfil his childhood dream,Mohan applies at a Detective Agency for the position of a Private Investigator.Meanwhile, his mother is trying to get him married. Mohan informs the NIL class to portray his character as flawed to his prospective father-in-law and ideal to the corroborating officer from the Detective Agency.Chaos ensues when the class and Mohan confuse both of them for each other.
An NIL student, Charles Spencers's uncle, a grief-stricken Urdu Poetry Pandit, who has married 24 times already, visits NIL while Charles is away. He charms the whole NIL with his melancholy persona while looking for his 25th bride to be.
Following the board of directors' order, NIL Principal Miss Dixit makes wearing uniforms mandatory for everyone at NIL, including its staff. Annoyed by the gratuitous mandate, Mohan along with the class initiate a uproarious protest.
