Seasons & Episode
Welcome to the SYFL, the Snoop Youth Football League, where inner-city kids across the country are given a chance to play football. The team travels from Los Angeles to the Bay Area for their first game of the year. For many of the kids, this is their first time away from home. Snoop puts together a unique game plan that he hopes will work to perfection.
At 6’4 and nearly 300-pounds, Maximus Gibbs is by far the biggest kid on the team. But he also struggles with his size, and is being bullied by some of his teammates. Snoop hopes to give Max the confidence he needs to succeed on and off the field.
Snoop talks about growing up without a father, and how coaches can be positive male role models. Also, assistant coach Dante Gamble talks about a mentoring relationship with young player Roosevelt Kahn, who is from his old neighborhood and in a bad gang territory.
Player Roosevelt Kahn lives in one of the roughest sections of Los Angeles. Snoop and his coaches are trying to show Kahn a way off the streets, but an encounter with the police could derail their plan.
Quarterback CJ Montes reminds Snoop of a younger version of himself. Snoop needs CJ to develop into a leader, as the team travels to Houston, Texas to meet a highly ranked opponent.
