Charity Shop Sue
2019In 2014, three local filmmakers in Nottingham were invited to document the life of charity shop manager Sue Tuke. Not all went to plan as Sue’s ambitious ideas were met with obstacles from both inside and outside the shop resulting in a series of catastrophes. Sue therefore decided to not participate further in filming and the footage has not been seen… until now.
Seasons & Episode
Meet Sue Tuke, Manager of Sec*hand Chances in Bulwell, Nottingham. It's the first day of filming for local filmmakers and Sue has big plans to get the shop on the map, but things get heated. Sue is forced to defend herself and the shop volunteers (Vera, Kersch and Viki) against a group of local 'troublemakers'.
Sue shows us she’s still 'Queen of the Market' by snagging some bargains. A shop customer gets some unsolicited styling tips and a showdown leads to a member of staff being reprimanded for hanging out with the wrong crowd.
The musical talents of Viki and her best pal Madalicat363 are showcased within a music video, directed by Sue. A dramatic meltdown makes us aware not all members of staff are on board with Sue's 'fly on the wall' filming. We're finally given an insight into Sue’s grandiose ideas for the shop's refurbishment.
Viki gets caught up in a tricky situation with the arrival of Crystal. Sue shows us how she deals with staff requests. And Vera pulls Sue up on her insensitivity towards a widower's donations.
Stresses within the shop send a volunteer into a panic attack but fear not Sue is on hand. A nice moment is disturbed by Crystal showing up in the shop and leaving an unpleasant surprise in the changing room. And while Reflecting on the charity Vera and Sue have a heart to heart.
The staff play a new game called the ‘Rot Test Challenge'. A play fight between Kersch and Viki ends in tears, leaving Sue to calm the situation. And a very suspicious transaction between Sue and a mystery man takes place.
Welcome to ‘Sue’s Antique Hunt’. Guided by Vera and Viki, Sue shows off her expertise, as she races round some of Bulwell’s famous landmarks, making money for charity. But will Sue be happy with the amount raised?
The arrival of Sue’s sister Belinda results in a showdown between the siblings. Gloria takes a turn for the worst, but the staff can’t reach her to help, as she’s locked in the toilet.
A secret meet up with Dewayne leaves Madalicat363 and Viki’s friendship in question. Unable to admit her fault in the state of the shop, Sue makes a salacious claim against someone close to Kersch. Things soon spiral out of hand as Kersch searches for the truth, has Sue gone too far this time?
It’s a sad day in Sec*hand Chances as the staff prepare for Mable’s funeral. Sue lays out some interesting plans to redesign the shop floor, but Vera and Kersch aren’t convinced by her ideas.
An accident in the shop results in Sue having to lay down the law to a child and his mother. Just before heading to Mable's funeral Sue shows us how to get the most out of a collections box.
Kersch helps Viki hide something in the upstairs room. Returning from Mable’s funeral a distraught Vera and a drunk Sue clash in a war of words, which there may be no going back from!
Hungover and determined not to take responsibility for her behaviour, Sue makes a shocking claim. Sue finds the dog Vikki’s been hiding and feels deceived by her staff and questions are raised when it's discovered food has gone missing from the fridge.
A customer hoping for a simple refund gets more than they bargained for and an afternoon of chilling and giggles is interrupted by a phone call that ruins the mood.
A new owner arrives in the shop to collect ‘Dodo’ the dog forcing Viki to say an emotional goodbye. Kersch’s daily collection yields gold, giving Sue an idea that could make big bucks for the shop.
The pressure of Area Manager Janet’s visit stresses Sue out and she’s ready to flip at any moment. Viki arrives at work having had a ‘makeover’, much to the annoyance of Sue.
