A figurehead of organised crime is arrested thanks to the statement given by a witness. Well-broken to police techniques, the suspect accuses Franklin of having faked the testimony in an attempt to get him to confess.

Franklin notes a certain number of worrying details in the attitude of the victim, an apparently well-behaved young man who lives with his mother, a recluse that no-one has seen for months.
