A TV series about the Long John Silver character from Treasure Island. It was made in 1954 in colour in Australia for the American and British markets before the development of Australian television. Long John Silver is the proud captain of his own ship and his own crew. He and his buccaneer cruise around the Caribbean and often stay on the side of the English and fight the French and Spanish. After the long and dangerous adventures, he and his crew rest in the tavern of Miss Purity. This series aired in the United States first on Syndicated basis in 1956, but not on a regular basis and completely random as part of another show. Several episodes were edited together and shown as movies in the cinemas under the titles: Under The Black Flag and South Sea Pirates. After that it was sold to the ITV Network in the UK, and aired in 1957. In 1958 Australian ABC screened the series as part of Children's TV Club show.

Miss Purity learns that the ship carrying her sister and her niece has been scuttled.
Long John sets his eyes on the natives' treasure when he and the crew deliver a naval officer to Amoyan Island.
Redbeard says he can bring Long John and Miss Purity back together by making Long John a "Dragon Slayer" like the knights of old. In truth, Redbeard is playing Long John against Miss Purity, and plans on being the winner himself.
Miss Purity arranges special treatment for Molly when Molly's niece comes for a visit.

When Gov. Strong takes a holiday, his replacement turns out to be crooked, and Long John exposes him.
Purity (Connie Gilchrist) has a new beau---who has ulterior motives. Robert Newton.
Purity's dressmaker is in love with a woman who scorns him for more "manly" men. Long John advises: "There be as many women as fish in the sea. Love be a trick of dame nature—and she be a woman. Thank your stars you be rid of her boarding hook." But Purity schemes to bring them together, and the dressmaker proves he really is a man.
After losing the Faithful gambling, a former pirate convinces Long John the real money is in honest trade, such as he conducts. But is this "former" pirate really reformed?
Miss Purity and Long John decide Jim should be sent to a private school after he causes trouble at a local birthday party. But things become worse then Jim's roommate is the same boy who actually caused the trouble at the party.
Miss Purity is upset that no one has remembered her birthday except the priest.
France and England are at war—and to the amusement of Long John Silver and his pirate crew, the foppish French Navy takes over their ship.
Silver and his crew attempt to plunder a Spanish ship, but there's no one aboard except dead prisoners.
Jim Hawkins tells the story that he actually saw a ship in the bay with a dead crew - and of course nobody believes him. Jim and Long John Silver discover that the Spanish robbed the ship and killed the entire crew.
Long John Silver suddenly is in pain, he has a toothache. So he is forced to save a dentist from the Spanish.
Gentleman Richard Thorpe asks Lng John for help to find his brother, who is missing on an island occupied by the Spanish. On the island they find out, that the Spanish try everything to get all the pink pearls.
The Governor orders to close Miss Purity’s tavern on behalf of the English. Long John discovers plans from the Spanish about an military invasion.
While sick with a fever, Long John dreams that he is to be executed for piracy.
Long John and Miss Purity learn that the headmistress of the orphanage is not allowing the children to have a Christmas party or receive gifts.
Desperate to get the money to save his ship, Long John agrees to a plan another pirate recommends to steal Spanish gold. But the pirate turns out to be just as much of a liar as was the last time Long John met him.
Long John Silver is arrested for murder and robbery. Miss Purity and Jim Hawkins try to prove his innocense.
