You Sato is a new high school student living in the dorms. While seeking cheap eats at the local market he finds himself beat up and semi-conscious with fleeting glimpses of a girl during the moments of his collapse. As his memories recover the next day, he discovers that trying to purchase half priced lunchboxes can be hazardous to his health as free-for-all fights with local students for the discounted food is the nightly routine. The girl from the night before, Sen Yarizui, is an upper classmate known as the Frozen Witch and is one of the local Wolves who dominates the area. She educates him on the rules of the game where Wolves eat well while Dogs settle for cup ramen. With fellow first year student Hana Oshiroi, a fetishistic germaphobe, You Sato sets out to discover if he too has what it takes to be a Wolf and taste the sweet victory of half priced boxed banquets or wallow in the bitter defeat of reconstituted noodles and salty broth in a styrofoam bowl.

The old nemesis of Orthros shows up in town to undermine them once again. With Sen still sick with a cold, it will be up to Yo to figure out a way to rebalance the playing field for all the wolves, as they vie for seasonal eel bentos.
A certain supermarket puts fresh eel bentos on sale one day each summer, and this is sure to attract plenty of wolves. But to make it there, first Sen will have to recover from a cold, and Orthros will have to overcome the specter of their painful past.
... and Dried Sardines over Rice with Plenty of Stewed Seasonal Vegetables Bento 480kcal There's a new wolf duo in town, and they go by the name Orthros. This pair seems to be as unbeatable as they are mysterious, but the real surprise comes when it's revealed that their true identities aren't so shrouded in mystery after all.
Homemade bentos are the order of the day, but sometimes these can prove just as dangerous as bentos won in battle. Asebi believes Yo is a big fan of her cooking, while Ume decides to take things up a notch with Hana.
An unfortunate mishap lands Yo in the hospital. Twin sisters Kyo and Kyo, student council officers from Ayame's school, are trying to learn more about Sen. When they mistake Yo, covered in bandages, for Sen, a comedy of errors ensues.
The Half-Pricers Club gets free tickets to a Hawaii-themed water park, so it's excursion time! While there, Yo learns that supermarkets aren't the only places where bento brawls occur.
The Monarch, leader of the eastern wolves, claims he wants to take over the supermarkets in the west as well. Sen comes up with a plan to foil him, while Ayame learns there might be more going on here than meets the eye.
Yo inadvertently finds himself caught up in a brewing turf war between wolves from the east and west sides of town. Wolves generally do their own thing, but this time they might need to work together to defend what belongs to them.
It's nothing but trouble when Yo's half-Italian cousin Ayame shows up and starts causing problems. Meanwhile, some shadowy organization appears to be gathering information about the local wolves.
The kendo club at school has their own ideas about how to acquire half-price bentos, and its captain makes a tempting offer to entice Yo into their fold. The time has come for Yo to ask himself what his motivation is for being a wolf.
Yo and Hana join the Half-Pricers Club. Its leader, Sen, teaches them the ropes, then sends them out into the wild to fend for themselves. There's a lot to learn, but it looks like Yo might turn out to be a successful wolf after all.
Feeding yourself isn't easy on a fixed budget in boarding school. Yo Sato learns it's even harder when brawls break out every night at local supermarkets the moment bento meals go on sale. The only way to get a bento is to fight the wolves for one.
