2019With CE Yeung Yat-to and Deputy CE Tong Ming at the helm of the leading public health institution Marshall Paxton Hospital, core departments, namely neurosurgery, CTS and A&E, are writing life-saving medical stories. The failed medical reform plan had not in any way frustrated Yat-to, who puts forward Comprehensive Opening Up of the Drug Formulary Bill with the aim of providing low-cost medications to rare disease patients. However, oncologist Ip Ching objects to his proposal, and she even goes against Yat-to as she is appointed as MarsPax CE. Meanwhile, former W.M.U. member Lee Man-shun joins the MarsPax team and collaborates with A&E Dr Zoe So, neurosurgeon Lui Oi-ling and other white knights in handling all kinds of critical situations.

Tong Ming, Ip Ching and Oi-ling discuss open brain surgery. Oi-ling is designated as chief surgeon as she is really certain about her approach to complete removal of tumor in the brain. While Oi-ling and Yat-to casually talk about surgery, Oi-ling abruptly brings out a wedding ring and asks Yat-to to put it on for her. Tong Ming returns home and sees sticky notes left behind by Zoe So. Tong Ming feels touched and also sad. Oi-ling begins the operation. Ip Ching keeps her company as a gesture of support. But she is also worried about the extreme surgical risks. Tong Ming and Ip Ching turn up at LegCo and wait for LegCo members to vote on the bill’s budget. Fast-forward six months and Ip Ching, in her capacity as Convener of the Bill, is interviewed by Cheung Ting. She delineates her views on Healthcare Reform.
At the W.H.C.O. forum in Shanghai, Yat-to, Tong Ming and Ip Ching earnestly promote the bill’s concept and spirit. Although they receive the representatives’ applause, but they just cannot gain the drug makers’ recognition. Tong Ming and Ip Ching can’t help feeling disheartened, and Yat-to is the only one who still believes in miracles. Man-shun, Oi-ling and Cheung Ting contact each and every rare disease patient. Yat-to’s surgery is astonishingly lined up with the Hong Kong economy. Ho-bun and Ming-cheung put forward some unreasonable demand to Yat-to. Zoe So tells Tong Ming she is going to the UK to visit her relatives. The founder’s condition is complicated, and time is tight, so Yat-to has to tough it out. It’s the year 2022, and Yat-to, Tong Ming and Ip Ching are going to attend the W.H.C.O. forum with the objective of fighting for patient rights with regard to popularization of medication. After much thought, Tong Ming brings up some topic with Ip Ching.
Tong Ming livestreams from MarsPax. Ming-cheung shows up and pressurizes Tong Ming. Oi-ling falsely claims Yat-to’s approval for livestreaming has been obtained. Man-shun still insists on his way and threatens to revoke contracts in connection with Tong Ming, Ip Ching and Oi-ling. Zoe So and Zam-sam are determined to stand with the trio whatever the circumstances. Man-shun turns up at LegCo and earnestly strives for opportunities to speak out. Meanwhile, Yat-to rushes to LegCo. An eight-year-old boy plunges down some car park. He has serious internal bleeding due to sternum fracture. Apart from Tong Ming, nobody at CTS is confident enough to perform this operation. However, Tong Ming’s scalpel ban is still in force. MarsPax secretly takes care of a European hedge fund founder. Oi-ling feels awkward as Ming-cheung designates Yat-to as chief surgeon.
Yat-to looks confident as he performs surgery on the taxi sex maniac who has cerebral hemorrhage. Tong Ming and Man-shun observe surgery progress. Oi-ling somehow feels uneasy as she overhears the trio’s conversation. The bill is soon to be presented to Finance Committee, and Yat-to and Chief Secretary Chow are still unable to reach a consensus on the budget. Ip Ching offers to let Cheung Ting’s TV station obtain bargaining chips for license renewal. Yat-to and Tong Ming eventually manage to meet up with Chief Secretary Chow, but neither side gives way. Yat-to puts his own matters on the back burner as he wants to focus on facilitating the adoption of the bill by Finance Committee. Yat-to also manages to get help from Ip Ching. Oi-ling rushes to see Yat-to as she abruptly receives a call from him. At the last minute, Cheung Ting withdraws some story about the bill. Tong Ming and Man-shun make some decision as they have to voice out.
Oi-ling promptly approaches Yat-to as she completes the operation in place of Yat-to. Yat-to unknowingly vents his anger on Oi-ling as he feels bothered. Yat-to and Ip Ching meet up with Ho-bun. After the meeting, Yat-to asks to see Councilor Ng as he wants to discuss some strategy with him. He has to convince Chief Secretary Chow as he decides not to waste any time in view of the pandemic. Female patient Ching Ho-yan fancies Man-shun. She repeatedly asks him out on a date, but Man-shun keeps declining. And unconscious Ho-yan is then taken to hospital as she is sexually assaulted by some taxi sex maniac. She is in critical condition as her chest wall needs to be reconstructed. But nobody at CTS is qualified to act as chief surgeon right now. The taxi sex maniac concerned has a car crash and passes out. He is transferred to MarsPax. Yat-to and Oi-ling are responsible for his brain trauma surgery.
MarsPax receives MDA notification that a hearing about the girl’s incident is to be held. Tong Ming requests the hearing to be conducted behind closed doors. A PPE-clad female patient goes to MarsPax to seek medical treatment as she claims she has coronavirus. Man-shun examines her and assesses her as just being overly anxious. He also shows her how to relax. On hearing day, Zoe So becomes suspicious as she finds out Man-shun and Zam-sum are not in A&E. Actually, Man-shun goes with Oi-ling to look for Cheung Ting as they want her to retract her complaint. Ming-cheung reprimands Tong Ming for his unethical practice, and mentions he really considers punishing him. Zoe So rushes back to the hospital as she wants to clarify things with Ming-cheung, but Tong Ming dissuades her. While Yat-to is replacing some patient’s injured intervertebral disc, he abruptly suspends the operation and asks Oi-ling to take over.
On bill voting day, the chums are astounded by Tong Ming’s speech. Yat-to precisely seizes some chance to demand immediate commencement of voting. With regard to fairness, Ip Ching is again granted an opportunity to give a last speech. Bill voting results are finalized, and Yat-to and Tong Ming earnestly put forward their request to Ip Ching. Yat-to returns to the hospital and agrees to something that involves Oi-ling. There is an escalator accident at some shopping mall, and the injured girl is taken to MarsPax. Zoe So is softhearted and has not instantly performed computer scan on the girl patient. Zoe So blames herself as she eventually realizes the girl patient has deferred internal bleeding and needs to undergo surgery immediately. At a press conference, Cheung Ting criticizes Yat-to. After the girl patient’s surgery, Cheung Ting wants to hold some MarsPax doctor accountable in this matter.
Tong Ming denies betraying Yat-to as he suddenly realizes there is some matter about recording. Yat-to announces the Bill Committee’s latest decision to MarsPax and MDA. Tong Ming is also disheartened due to Yat-to distrusting him. Man-shun and Oi-ling just cannot persuade the duo. Tong Ming comes to see Ming-cheung at the appointed time. Ming-cheung denies that he is the culprit behind the recording. He also asks Tong Ming to change sides and rally behind Ip Ching. Meanwhile, Yat-to issues an order that Tong Ming is suspended from work. Zoe So scolds Yat-to for taking revenge by abusing his power. On behalf of Tong Ming, Ip Ching wants to offer an explanation to Yat-to. Tong Ming mentions he finally understands Yat-to’s ambition. On bill voting day, Yat-to calls on the councilors to follow public opinion in his last speech. And on behalf of Ip Ching, Tong Ming gives a last speech.
Yat-to, Tong Ming and their chums discuss the bill’s situation. Yat-to abruptly receives Tong Ming’s recording from Cheung Ting. Ip Ching, who also receives the recording, approaches Ming-cheung and questions him. Due to the recording incident, Oi-ling wants to find Ip Ching and interrogate her. While passing through some pedestrian tunnel, some weird young person randomly stabs people, and Oi-ling is stabbed in the neck as she fails to escape. The victims are taken to MarsPax, and Yat-to and Ip Ching oversee the situation. Yat-to and Tong Ming keep performing operations, and miracles are realized through their efforts. Chief Secretary Chow and Ho-bun approach Councilor Ng as they hope Yat-to retracts his bill. Yat-to makes some decision after finding out the councilor’s latest standpoint. Yat-to returns to MarsPax and announces some matter to Tong Ming.
Man-shun has to save Cheuk-hin at all costs as he has flashbacks of moments he spent with Cheuk-hin. Patient Cheung Kwai-fong’s cancer cells have spread to deeper parts of the heart, and Tong Ming decides to amend the surgical approach. Cheuk-hin comes round and realizes Man-shun has ignored his wish. He hopes Man-shun removes the bullet in the brain for him as he wants to give it to Man-shun as a gift. Ming-cheung asks to see Tong Ming. He uses the position of MarsPax CE as bait to again slyly deal a blow to Yat-to. Rare disease patients are invited to enjoy a band performance. The lead singer abruptly falls ills and fails to turn up. Six doctors, including Man-shun and Tong Ming, stand in for the band. Meanwhile, a rare disease patient stands up and cries out loud.
Tsz-wing suffers a third stroke. Before surgery, Oi-ling reminds him to stop taking estrogen. Yat-to gains the upper hand in the public opinion warfare. Ip Ching asks to see the councilors, and mentions Mr Guo will support the councilors’ plan. Both Ip Ching and Yat-to are not confident about their respective bills getting through. Ip Ching and Yat-to want to convince each other, but in vain. While going after some shoplifter, shopkeeper Kwan Cheuk-hin’s head is injured. After being taken to hospital, he refuses to undergo further examination. Actually, Cheuk-hin was shot in the head five years ago. Moreover, he used to be Man-shun’s fellow war doctor. After the duo recognize each other, Cheuk-hin’s heart abruptly stops beating. Meanwhile, Ip Ching’s opinion regarding the approach to treating some patient differs from Tong Ming’s. Cheuk-hin comes round and declines Yat-to’s advice to have brain surgery.
Tong Ming and his chums are performing lung transplant surgery on Siu-han. Yat-to has already prepared for the worst, and Ip Ching thinks of asking someone to come and help. Ming-cheung steps out from a lift and declares he is getting to the bottom of the issue. A young guy called Au Tsz-wing has suffered two strokes. Oi-ling and Zoe So suspect he is a drug addict. Upon further questioning, they understand there is some other reason. Starting with Yat-to’s bill press conference, the debate between Cheung Ting and Yat-to has reached the stage of public opinion warfare, and neither one of them is giving way. As night falls, Siu-han’s condition deteriorates quickly. Oi-ling eventually understands Ip Ching’s motive behind everything she has done as Man-shun tells her Ip Ching’s bill is based on her deceased boyfriend’s thesis. Someone collapses in a restaurant.… ...
Lung disease girl patient Law Siu-han is in critical condition. Man-shun and Oi-ling want to facilitate drainage for the girl patient by thoracentesis. But Zam-sum is worried this approach could affect lung donation after death ranking. Mr Guo agrees to Ip Ching’s request. Yat-to asks Oi-ling and Man-shun to persuade some rare disease patient to attend a press conference. Ip Ching wants to prevent patients from attending the press conference through Ming-cheung’s influence. Siu-han’s condition keeps getting worse, and Tong Ming makes a last-ditch effort to persuade her big brother to donate his lungs. A sudden traffic accident causes Siu-han’s big brother to suffer a brain hemorrhage and eventually succumb to brain stem death. Siu-han’s big sister-in-law agrees to donate her deceased husband’s lungs to save his younger sister.… ...
Ip Ching has other thoughts as she knows the chance of Mr Guo’s son Dong-dong undergoing open brain surgery at MarsPax. Before surgery, Ip Ching delivers a proposal. But Mr Guo declines Ip Ching’s invitation as he always likes to make a quick buck. While Dong-dong undergoes surgery, Ming-cheung tells the team to put everything on hold. Yat-to, who does not know what is happening, tells Ming-cheung he will only wait ten minutes. Mr Guo gets worried as he realizes the operation is suspended. He soon understands Ip Ching’s intention. After Dong-dong underwent surgery, Yat-to and Ip Ching become foes as Yat-to eventually finds out Ip Ching’s maneuvers in the background. A 16-year-old girl is waiting for lung transplant. Tong Ming supposedly wants to perform a live lung transplant for the girl patient, but her big brother is worried about such a risky operation. Tong Ming is at his wits’ end.… ...
Tong Ming endures the pain and operates on Zoe So. In his mind, he recalls certain moments when they first met. After going through a busy night, Man-shun draws an analogy between medical development at MarsPax and saving lives. Ip Ching reconsiders the drug development center’s direction. After Zoe So underwent surgery, Tong Ming has not gone to the ward to check on her. Oi-ling rushes back to Hong Kong and visits Zoe So on her sickbed. She eventually vents her negative emotions that have been bottled up all day long. Mainland tycoon Mr Guo takes his son, who suffers from refractory epilepsy, to MarsPax to seek medical treatment. He also asks Man-shun and Ip Ching to handle this matter in a low key manner. Zoe So calls Tong Ming as Ip Ching tells her Tong Ming has not left the hospital. Zoe So approaches Tong Ming and persuades him to go home and have a good rest. She also honestly tells him why she had a divorce.
Ip Ching finds out Yat-to and Oi-ling go to Shanghai to attend a W.H.C.O. conference as they want to make a pitch for the bill. During an interview, she emphasizes that dominance among pharmaceutical companies can only be attained through her bill. In Shanghai, Yat-to gives Oi-ling a sweet promise before the conference. At Silent Night, a stampede incident takes place on bar street. Zoe So, Man-shun and their chums promptly embark on a rescue mission. While Tong Ming receives some morning message from Zoe So and is so happy that he dances with joy, Zoe So, who is saving lives at the scene, has a serious accident. Ip Ching readily comes forward to act as assistant surgeon to Tong Ming. Zoe So’s buddy Dr Yu Zam-sum and Tong Ming then realize Zoe So is pregnant. Before surgery, Zoe So gathers all her strength and whispers to Tong Ming that he has to keep her baby at all costs.
Yat-to approaches Man-shun as he wants to use Man-shun and Vice-Secretary-General, W.H.C.O.’s friendship to promote his bill. An anonymous message causes everybody at MarsPax to feel anxious. Ip Ching asks Yat-to to help clarify the situation, and Yat-to faces a dilemma. Ip Ching finds the message sender. She declares she still has the upper hand against Yat-to without engaging in shenanigans. She tells the antagonist not to cause any trouble. A female firefighter has hurt her lungs due to smoke inhalation, and Tong Ming plans to remove her left lung. But Man-shun is moved by her fellow firefighters. Christmas is just around the corner, and Oi-ling hopes to spend sweet moments with Yat-to and nobody else. But Yat-to decides to go to Shanghai to attend the W.H.C.O. conference. Zoe So lets Zam-sum know she is going to tell Tong Ming her secret on Christmas Day.
Ip Ching makes a debut speech for her bill in LegCo. She has also invited Vice-Secretary-General, W.H.C.O. to rally behind her. Yat-to and Tong Ming launch a counter-attack on Ip Ching. Ip Ching wants to convince Tong Ming to support her, but Tong Ming maintains that doctors should focus on saving lives. Some patient’s cancer cells spread to the spinal cord. Oi-ling and oncology perform joint surgery, and chief surgeon astonishingly turns out to be Ip Ching. Some woman suffers from pulmonary hypertension, and Tong Ming advises her to terminate her pregnancy. Zoe So feel uneasy as she sees what is happening. And then Zoe So tells Tong Ming she will marry him subject to certain conditions. Zoe So asks Oi-ling how did she start going out with Yat-to. Actually, Yat-to simply told Oi-ling he loved her, and Cheung Ting also played matchmaker for them. Meanwhile, Man-shun runs into Cheung Ting at some bar.
Tong Ming manages to separate the connected hearts of the conjoined twins. He personally performs artificial artery bypass graft surgery on the weaker baby. Zoe So looks at recipes by herself as she wants to thank Tong Ming by making dishes for him. Ip Ching comes forward to show her concern, and Zoe So shows a touch of sweetness. The baby’s blood pressure is unstable, and Tong Ming coolly makes some decision. Tong Ming’s surgery has earned points for Yat-to’s medical bill. However, Ip Ching is very confident about her own bill. Oi-ling finds out Ip Ching wants to establish funding channels for the drug development center. She approaches Man-shun as she wants to persuade other Cluster CEs to change their minds and support Yat-to. Yat-to also finds out Ip Ching’s bill content, so he approaches Tong Ming and other committee members as he wants to seek their advice on some plan.… ...
Oi-ling tells Man-shun her father Lee Biu’s condition abruptly deteriorates. Ip Ching and Zoe So cannot agree on an approach to conjoined twins separation surgery. Zoe So strongly believes Tong Ming is a doctor who keeps making miracles. Lee Biu’s condition becomes critical while Yat-to performs surgery on him. Oi-ling then quickly informs Man-shun, who decides to stay at A&E and try his best to save lives. Ip Ching and Ming-cheung ask to see Cluster CEs as they want to give them their pitch about the drug development center proposal. Ip Ching outrageously mentions she will arbitrarily use some hospital’s funding. The conjoined twins’ condition abruptly deteriorates. The surgery is brought forward by four months, and Tong Ming and Yat-to calmly oversee the situation. Elite medical personnel from various departments at MarsPax go all out. And then Tong Ming eventually has to use a scalpel on the conjoined twins’ hearts.
Oi-ling is curious about why Ip Ching let Tong Ming off the hook at the disciplinary hearing. She mentions Zoe So thinks Ip Ching probably fancies Tong Ming. Tong Ming finds out Ip Ching tells Man-shun to convince Ka-lam. Ip Ching hides her affectionate feelings for Tong Ming. Some reckless internet celebrity passes out and is taken to hospital, and they have to be promptly transferred to an oxygen chamber. Yat-to summons Tong Ming, Man-shun and Oi-ling as he invites the trio to join the Bill Committee and take up former committee members’ positions. The trio promise to go along with Yat-to whatever the circumstances. And old person is taken to hospital and diagnosed with spinal infection. Oi-ling is annoyed as Man-shun is adamant that Yat-to is performing the surgery. Tong Ming agonizes over performing surgery on conjoined twins with connected hearts, who are about to arrive.… ...
Tong Ming has to attend MDA disciplinary hearing. Yat-to asks Ip Ching whether she, Cheung Ting and Ming-cheung have teamed up to deal with Tong Ming. Zoe So eventually manages to meet up with Cheung Ting, who takes a tough stance and is adamant that Tong Ming is the leaker. Ip Ching probes Tong Ming about his attitude towards attending the hearing. Surprisingly, Tong Ming ironically asks her to continue following up on actress Man Ka-lam’s condition. Meanwhile, Tong Ming receives news about Ka-lam having a traffic accident. Zoe So rushes to the scene to perform resuscitation on Ka-lam. She carelessly grazes her arm while descending some slope. She is covertly worried about getting infected. Tong Ming then openly performs lung repair surgery on Ka-lam. On hearing day, Ming-cheung fiercely attacks Tong Ming. Yat-to turns the situation around, but not all committee members are convinced.
Ip Ching asks to see Man-shun as she wants to ask him to side with her. Man-shun mentions he is only interested in saving lives. Some boxer’s head is seriously hurt during a match, and Yat-to simply reduces intracranial pressure for the boxer in A&E. Meanwhile, an old brain tumor female patient, who is undergoing chemotherapy, exhibits drug allergy symptoms. Her brain tumor has to be removed. Oi-ling is chief surgeon on this occasion, and she astonishingly realizes assistant surgeon is Man-shun. Some actress is taken to hospital due to pneumonia, and she is then diagnosed with AIDS. News of the actress’ illness spreads around, and Tong Ming is singled out as the leaker. Zoe So suspects Ip Ching is the culprit. Ip Ching is going to attend a hearing as Yat-to finds out she inappropriately performed surgery on her boyfriend in the UK.… ...
Through Ho-bun’s introduction, Yat-to eventually manages to meet the Financial Secretary. However, Yat-to then finds out the two senior officials have some other plan. Armed with some heavy duty staple gun, some man hijacks a coach and stabs a passenger in the chest. Tong Ming, Man-shun and rookie Fan Wai-san rush to the scene to save the victims. But the suspect will not allow the hostages to be taken to hospital, so the trio resort to racing with death by performing emergency surgery on the hostages in the vehicle. Yat-to is certain Ming-cheung has betrayed him, so he then tells someone to investigate Ip Ching’s background. Tong Ming and his chums convince the staple gun-wielding man to surrender, and some victim is taken to MarsPax to undergo ventricular repair surgery. Wai-san again embarrasses herself due to hemophobia. Meanwhile, Yat-to eventually obtains information on Ip Ching’s background.
Zoe So is delighted when she receives a report from the gynecologist. Oi-ling feels apprehensive as Ip Ching decides to assign the task of removing brain tumor for Chi-kiu to her. Yat-to meet up with Ho-bun and Ming-cheung, and he puts forward his terms for entering the operating theater for Chi-kiu. Ip Ching tells Tong Ming Yat-to’s proposal is simply nonsense, and she has some alternative plan. Oi-ling is relieved as Yat-to abruptly stands in for her as chief surgeon to perform surgery on Chi-kiu. During the operation, Yat-to and Ip Ching face the dilemma of removing the brain tumor or preserving musical performance ability. Zoe So notices some Pompe disease patient’s condition deteriorates. Zoe So simply feels helpless as their mother tearfully mentions she cannot afford the exorbitant medical costs. Ip Ching and Zoe So pass some city street in their car, and they notice someone plunges down a building.
Yat-to asks Ming-cheung why he lets him down. In return, Ming-cheung advises Yat-to to learn to adapt to circumstances. Tong Ming, Zoe So and their chums expect there will soon be some seismic change at MarsPax. A man with a stab wound to the chest is taken to hospital in critical condition. However, he refuses to undergo surgery and keeps bothering Tong Ming on the ward. Tong Ming finds out the truth and decides to save this guy. Violinist Wu Chi-kiu, who suffers from brain tumor, feels unwell during a performance. Ip Ching knows only Yat-to has the abilities to save Chi-kiu. While Ip Ching starts a new job at MarsPax, Tong Ming advises the consultants to hold a vote. Surprisingly, Yat-to is the one who readily agrees to Ip Ching taking the helm. Ip Ching instantly arranges for Chi-kiu to be transferred to MarsPax as her aim is to hopefully have Yat-to perform surgery on her.
Ip Ching thinks she can use Yat-to’s career prospects to force Tong Ming to submit. Tong Ming simply turns down Ip Ching’s offer. Yat-to asks Cheung Ting why she keeps picking on him. He also tells her even if he steps down, he will not let Ip Ching oversee prescriptions in relation to rare diseases. Ip Ching meets up with the Secretary for Health Chong Ho-bun, and she also wants to obtain some specific remedy for Yuen-lan’s daughter Fong Man. Some boy, who is Zoe So’s patient, probably suffers from food poisoning and has been feeling unwell. His body temperature abruptly surges during surgery. While Tong Ming goes with Yat-to to attend a disciplinary hearing, Zoe So promptly asks Man-shun for help. During the hearing, Tong Ming testifies for Yat-to. Ming-cheung tells Yat-to the hearing results, and he also declares Ip Ching is taking the helm of MarsPax.
Issues keep cropping up after Yat-to arranged for Yuen-lan to attend LegCo. Dr Wan Ming-cheung, Chairman of MDA, persuades Yat-to to put the bill on the back burner. Tong Ming and Zoe So are reunited. Tong Ming then really wants to again bring up the topic of marriage with Zoe So. But Zoe So will only reconsider getting married after her girlfriend returns safely. Man-shun joins the MarsPax team and then promptly shows off his skills in A&E. But Oi-ling covertly feels uneasy.
