Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds Season 1
Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds is an animated cartoon adaptation of the classic Alexandre Dumas story of d'Artagnan and The Three Musketeers. Most of the characters are anthropomorphizations of dogs, hence the title of the cartoon; although there are a few exceptions, most notably Dogtanian's two sidekicks Pip the mouse and Planchet the bear, among several others.

Dogtanian, Pip and The Three Musketeers have sailed back to France from Spain, Juliette is there eagerly awaiting Dogtanian's return. Cardinal Richelieu, Count Rochefort and Captain Widimer are discussing Dogtanian's return and how to get him, Widimer suggests poison - to the disgust of Rochefort who believes in the Cavalier's code of honour. Richelieu likes Widimer's plan and tells him to do it behind Rochefort's back, if he succeeds he'll become Count Widimer. Dogtanian is handing out gifts when Rochefort knocks on the door, Planchet goes to answer but only finds a note on the doorstep. The note challenges Dogtanian to a duel and warns him of Widimer's plan...
Dogtanian and The Three Musketeers have crossed the Pyrenees into Spain, looking forward to their time in the Spanish court. They're enjoying the journey too much to realise there's a stranger behind them with a carrier pigeon. They enter the city on the day of a bullfight, Pip dreams of being a matador. After Pip falls off Sandy and wakes from his daydream they hear a bull has escaped. The bull runs straight at them and they ride out of the way leaving a baby in its path. Athos leaps from his horse, takes the bull by the horns and wrestles it to the ground...
Dogtanian and The Three Musketeers have a mission to deliver the jewels, 'The Lights of the King' to the Spanish court. Porthos, Athos and Aramis are ready to leave but Dogtanian is still asleep well into the afternoon, Pip wakes him just before the Musketeers arrive. Richelieu and Rochefort have people watching them, and have told all the district governors on the route to stop them.
The Jewels were given to the former King of France by the King of Spain, Louis decides to return them as a sign of friendship, The Three Musketeers and Dogtanian have be given the honour of carrying out the mission, Treville proudly strokes his mustache. Richelieu and Rochefort have plans to stop them reaching the Spanish Court. Pip is at a show satirising Cardinal Richelieu staring a mouse called Marco. Widimer and the Cardinal's guards have been ordered to stop the show. Marco knocks Widimer off his horse, Pip joins in the fighting but doesn't help and Marco and the Ringmaster are arrested. Richelieu and Rochefort tell Marco there is a conspiracy to start a war between France and Spain and ask him to help stop it...
Dogtanian and Pip are still stranded on the island. Pip is hungry so they walk inland to find some food, they find some fruit which Pip knocks from the top of a tree. Before Pip can tuck in they hear a strange noise and go to investigate. They find a "monster with a tail where its mouth should be", also known as an elephant stuck in the mud. They go in to rescue it, Dogtanian doing most of the work, but before it's out a crocodile comes in. Pip tries to catapult a rock at the croc, but launches himself onto its back, Dogtanian tries to duel it but has to run and is caught in its mouth. The elephant uses his trunk to throw some trees on the croc and saves the day.
The Blue Falcon, after escaping, is continuing his reign of terror on the high seas. Dogtanian, still tired from his last attempt to catch the Falcon, and the 3 Musketeers are told to catch him on the Mediterranean and bring him back to France. Cardinal Richelieu is discussing the Musketeers plan with Count Rochefort, Rochefort suggests that he also takes a sea voyage to find the Falcon first.At the waterfront Juliette gives Dogtanian a gift, unseen by anyone Milady is watching, promising I will have my revenge Dogtanian, neither you nor your friends will ever see France again...
After foiling Richelieu's plan to destroy the reputation of Queen Anne Dogtanian is training to become a musketeer. This involves running up, and falling off, a tree as well as slicing leaves. While resting on the grass Dogtanian explains to Pip that he can't join the musketeers until a musketeer leaves the corps, coincidentally Aramis arrives seconds later to tell Dogtanian there's now a vacant post. But Dogtanian will have to pass some tests: sword-fighting, horse riding, swimming and a trek through the forest in the middle of the night to find a hat...
Dogtanian continues pursuing The Black Moustache, on the way out of the Musketeers headquarters he runs into Athos who's showing off his new baldric. Dogtanian tries to see the back and makes Athos look a fool when he finds out the baldric doesn't have a back. Athos challenges him to a duel, Dogtanian agrees and arranges it half an hour after his duel with Porthos. Dogtanian resumes the chase and runs into Aramis, as he's approaching he accidently kicks a stone at Aramis' girlfriend, leading to another duel again half an hour after the duel with Athos...
The Duke of Buckingham and Dogtanian arrive too late, Milady's ship has already left for France. Buckingham suggests they use his faster, but smaller, ship. As they catch up to the ship Milady drops some barrels at them, for no apparent reason. When this fails Milady throws a knife at the ship, cutting the sail and thwarting their chase. Dogtanian lassoes a couple of sharks, and uses Pip as bait to make them tow the ship...
Richelieu and Rochefort know The Three Musketeers & Dogtanian are going to England to recover the Queen's diamonds. Rochefort tells Richelieu that his men will intercept them and 'finish them off, once and for all'. They arrive at the first group of Rochefort's men, who have blocked the only road through the forest, Athos, Porthos, Dogtanian and Pip go round another way while Aramis teaches Rochefort's ruffians some manners. The 4 of them come up to a traffic jam in town, the owners of the carts threaten them when they try to ride past. Athos stays to teach the mongrels some respect while Porthos, Dogtanian and Pip sneak around the other side...
Dogtanian and Pip are returning to Paris but decide to stop enjoy the view and relax before returning. After Pip has made some remarks about Dogtanian's feelings about Juliette Dogtanian chases him and they run into a beautiful lady. After asking about the Dagger Dogtanian received from the Duke of Buckingham Dogtanian escorts her down to the river. "Little do Pip and Dogtanian realise that this beautiful and seductive female is none other than Milady, Cardinal Richelieu's cunning and ruthless spy."
On the road to Meune Dogtanian is called a country bumpkin by a rude, impatient cavalier he nicknames 'The Black Moustache'. He tries, but fails, to catch up with The Black Moustache to defend his honour...
That upstart Dogtanian has just ruined Rochefort's plan to kidnap Juliette so he and Richelieu send 3 guards to arrest him. Planchet distracts the guards long enough for Pip to help Dogtanian and Juliette escape out the back. Pip helps out yet again when they see two more guards in front of the house, he pretends to be drunk and distracts the guards while Dogtanian and Juliette run to find Porthos at his house. Meanwhile Porthos has gone to Dogtanian's not realising there are guards there...
Dogtanian goes to the Musketeer's headquarters and joins the line waiting for a special guest, not realising it's him. Athos lifts him onto his shoulders and he gets a hero's welcome. When he goes in to meet Treville he finds out he can't become a Musketeer straight away, but as a reward for his bravery when fighting Widimer and the Guards he's allowed to visit the Palace Gardens...
Cardinal Richelieu, Count Rochefort, Milady and Captain Widimer are planning to accuse Queen Anne of treason, Widimer and Rochefort plan to guard the two secret tunnels to the palace and catch Juliette. With Richelieu also trying to prove Dogtanian tried to kill the Queen, Treville decides to keep Dogtanian in the Bastille, guarded by The Three Musketeers, until the issue is sorted...
Cardinal Richelieu has, after his other underling's repeated failures, asked Milady to make sure Juliette can't organise the meeting between the Duke of Buckingham and Queen Anne. Juliette is still on the run from the Cardinal's guards and manages to run into Planchet and Sandy, using Sandy to escape. Milady is in a nearby coach when Planchet and Dogtanian are discussing what's happened, from there she lures Dogtanian into her house...
Juliette's Uncle is kidnapped by the people who kidnapped Juliette, who's still being held in the house by Rochefort's squire. Dogtanian plans to find them both and enlists The Three Musketeers to find Juliette's Uncle while he goes to find Juliette. Juliette manages to escape outsmarting the squire who follows her with Rochefort. After Juliette falls in the river Rochefort lets her think she's escaped so she will lead him to the Duke of Buckingham...
Once Dogtanian has realised what's going on he sets out with Planchet and Sandy, 'the only horse with the nose of a thoroughbred bloodhound', to find Juliette. They search but have to stop under a tree and continue in the morning. Juliette tries to escape from the house she's being held in, but is caught by Rochefort's squire and tied up. Although tied up Juliette still tries to escape, she moves to the window and signals with her mirror...
Dogtanian is dreaming of Juliette who's at the palace working for Queen Anne. Juliette has to take an important message The Duke of Buckingham who's hiding in Paris. Meanwhile Richelieu has suspended Captain Widimer and received a letter from Milady...
All the guns in a man's shop are stolen by le Faucon Bleu, the worst & most notorious thief and pirate in Europe. He leaves a message "Watch out tonight danger is near, for I have come to Paris", a musketeer rides through the streets telling people to lock their doors. That night only the Police, Guards and Musketeers dare to go out, even Dogtanian has locked up the house. Outside the city the Blue Falcon and his gang of thieves are scheming, the Blue Falcon scales the city's wall to put his plan into action...
Juliette is still missing and her uncle has inadvertently revealed there is something in her room. At the house Dogtanian meets Monsieur Pip for the first time, catching him stealing food from the table. Dogtanian discovers that Pip's family have lived there for generations, and he's only stealing food because Juliette's Uncle has been kidnapped by the Cardinal's Guards...
Dogtanian has gone to see Monsieur Treville to join the Musketeers. When he arrives Widimer and some guards are about to arrest Aramis and Athos for drawing their swords against some of the guards. Treville comes down and sorts the problem pointing out both sides drew their swords, making it a duel, so both parties should be arrested. Before leaving Widimer spots Dogtanian and orders the guards to arrest him, a farcical chase follows, ending with Dogtanian jumping on a coach that takes him back to the Musketeers headquarters...
Dogtanian wakes from a dream about Juliette to the slightly less attractive sight of her uncle. Juliette's Uncle tells Dogtanian he can stay in their house as long as he wants and that Juliette is a lady-in-waiting for the Queen. Their conversation is interrupted by the sound of a fight outside, they run out to see (a slightly drunk) Athos fighting a gang of the Cardinal's Guards without drawing his sword...
As Dogtanian continues his long journey to Paris he's soaked by a passing coach. He catches up to the coach and complains angrily to the driver when Julliette comes out and dries him off with her handkerchief. Juliette then tells Dogtanian he's on the outskirts of Paris...
On the road to Meune, Dogtanian is insulted by a cavalier with a black moustache, who calls him a country bumpkin.
Dogtanian is fighting his rival François LaVache, son of the Mayor, with wooden swords and beats him easily. A Musketeer from Paris watches on his way to meet the noblest man in Béarn and congratulates Dogtanian on his victory. François rushes home assuming he's there to meet his father, but Dogtanian sees the Musketeer arrive at his house. We find out that Dogtanian's father is friends with Monsieur de Treville, Captain of the Musketeers...
