It was originally called The Nurses when it premiered in 1962; for the second season, the title was expanded to The Doctors and the Nurses and it ran until 1965, when it was transformed into a half-hour daytime soap opera. The soap opera, also called The Nurses, ran on ABC from 1965 to 1967.

Express Stop from Lennox Avenue is an episode of the TV program The Nurses.
Norman Ruskin is recuperating after a minor operation and strikes up a friendly relationship with Miss Lucas. One night late at her post just as a patient dies, and her attempts to explain the delay are brushed aside. Edith Ruskin (Miss Benoit) is informed that Gail intends to press charges against her husband, despite opposition by hospital authorities.
A New England fisherman suffers a heart attack while at sea and is flown to the New York hospital for attention.
A nurse attending a teen-aged boy brought to the hospital with a fractured skull, presumably after having been attacked by a street gang, learns that her patient had been the attacker and that his assailant had acted in self defense.
Nurse Thorpe (Shirl Conway) swamped with hospital routine, decides to go into private nursing which, she is led to believe, is a “soft touch".
