Dougal and Gladys have a discussion about Emma and her eating habits. Dougal goes and visits Emma with disastrous consequences. Tee Jay explains to Carol why he didn't meet her last night and they make arrangements to meet again that night. Sneddon and Lynn comes across the preparations for an illegal dog fight. The town gathers at the church hall to hear about the plan Sneddon has for catching the dog fight organisers. With the help of the local scout group, they capture the dog fight organisers and other partcipants.
It is the day of Isabel's 50th birthday. Isabel is depressed because she thinks everybody has forgotten. Morag warns Sneddon that there might be a wild animal attacking farm animals. Sneddon invites himself to Isabel's birthday party. Isabel's party begins and she finds she has two surprise guests - Susan Duncan and Maggie Watson. Mrs. Mack gets reacquainted with Maggie. Carol teases Mrs. Mack about her statute. Eddie Ramsay does some investigating. Isabel tells Alun her reasons why she didn't tell him when her birthday was and he dismisses them immmediately.
Morag meets with Ryder, who offers her new alternative to her problem. Although she is suspicious of his actions, she decides to consider the offer. Mrs. Mack complains to Isabel and Mairi about the statue she got from her brother-in-law. Carol and Mairi continue, with the help of Jockie with the preparations to Isabel's surprise birthday party. Sheila gets a visit from her husband, Eddie on leave from the army. Sheila tells Eddie about Paul, whom he meets later on.
Lynne asks Emma to move in with her and Carol. Emma accepts the offer. Fiona finds out from Sheila that Ryder has brought Inverdarroch farm. When she confronts Ryder about this, he tells Fiona that he brought the farm as a wedding present.
Kenny pays an early morning visit to Lynne and is appraised of what's been happening with her and Carol. Ryder visits Morag Stewart and makes an offer for her farm which she refuses. Mrs Mack inherits some money from her brother-in-law. Fiona and Ryder both receive letters from Sneddon. Morag tells Dougal and Grace that she has no choice but to sell her farm. Isabel cancels her birthday party after receiving a phone call from Susan, telling her that she won't be able to make it Isabel's 50th birthday party. Mairi and Carol decide to organise a surprise birthday for Isabel instead. Carol finds out her insurance won't cover her personal possessions.
Isabel expresses her doubts about the upcoming marriage between Fiona and Greg to Sheila. Alun and Isabel discuss their relationship. Alun gives a final warning to Tee Jay but Tee Jay decides to quit his job instead. Fiona and Greg continue planning their wedding and what will happen afterwards. Sneddon catches Donald Lachlan in the act of vandalising farm. Donald explains to his family and Sneddon why he has vandalising Inverdarroch farm. Sneddon tells the Lachlan family his reasons for coming back. Paul tells Sheila that he will be best man at Fiona and Greg's wedding and tells her of his doubts about Greg. Emma and Alastair discuss the future and what might happen to them. That night while Alastair is visiting Emma at her caravan, Dougal barges in on them expecting the worse.
The word spreads about Greg and Fiona spending the night together. Sneddon accuses Tee Jay about the vandalism done to his car. Greg asks Fiona to marry him. At the golf club reception, Sneddon and Dougal nearly come to blows. Sneddon leaves the reception early and returns home to find more vandalism. Greg and Fiona eventually arrive at the reception, where Greg announces to everyone that he and Fiona are getting married as soon as the arrangements can be made. This news receives a mixed reaction from the people at the reception.
Greg invites Sneddon to the reception at the golf course. Sneddon accuses Dougal of poaching, when he comes across Dougal looking for traps on his land. Sneddon informs Fiona that he is now the sitting tenant of Inverdarroch farm. Emma and Alastair become romantically involved with each other. Greg shows Fiona around the golf course development and after mishap they end up spending the night together. Emma tells her father about Alastair and he warns her to be careful. Isabel phones Brian and finds out that Brian's girlfriend Jenny is pregnant and that he wants a divorce.
Fiona arrives back home and finds she has received flowers from Greg. Greg decides to oversee the golfcourse development personally. Alastair confronts Tee Jay about the theft of five pounds. Lynne quits her job at the marina and goes to work for Sneddon. Kenny sets things straight with Alastair and the hotel. Alastair explains things to Joanne and she is not happy and makes him a kitchen hand. Dougal tells Fiona that there may be poachers in the area. Isabel tells Alun about Brian and her feelings about what has happened. Greg informs Joanne that he will be staying at the hotel. Sneddon catches Tee Jay and his latest girlfriend fooling around on his land and chases them both off. Tee Jay vows to take revenge on Sneddon.
Isabel's niece Sandra comes to visit and Isabel wonders why. Joanne hires her cousin Alastair to work in the hotel and he is soon in trouble. Caroline and Greg have dinner together. Davie gets a surprise visit from Inverdarroch, who tells Davie that is he leaving for good and that Davie is welcome to stay on the farm, with his and Lily Wentworth's blessing.
Jocky McDonald takes over Archie Menzies' job. Ryder comes back from his trip to London and goes to see Lily who informs him, that she has made Davie Sneddon her new farm manager. Ryder then visits Fiona, who lashes out at him, due in part to his behaviour and her concern over her son, David. Carol is still upset and angry over the mix-up with the letter. Isabel and Alun agree to have dinner so that she can give him, her reasons for not seeing him. Ryder confronts Paul about his job.
Fiona takes her son David to the Institute of Neurological Services for an examination. David's scan shows that he has a brain tumor. Meanwhile, Lily Wentworth considers Davie Sneddon's offer and Emma asks about living at the hotel. Carol asks Lyn to give a letter to Kenny but through a mix-up, Kenny never receives it.
