Shelly and Michael share a very awkward date when Michael agrees to drive Sam and Scarlett to Canada to get the morning-after pill. At the same time, Max thinks that she might be pregnant with David's baby.
When Shelley is offered the opportunity to work on her snowboarding with her father at an Olympic training facility in Colorado, Sam finally declares his love for her, assuming she's leaving town. Meanwhile, David and Maria continue their illicit affair even though Will is now aware of their relationship, thanks to a vengeful Max.
When fresh powder falls on Boundary Mountain, Shelly blows off her snowboarding training session with her dad to meet Sam for a private run with the hope of restoring their friendship. Meanwhile, David and Maria try to come clean to Will and Max about their furtive romance.
Shelley tries to impress her estranged father with her snowboarding at an exhibition session, but is disappointed by his lack of enthusiasm. She throws herself into her boarding to strengthen her relationship with her father and to keep her mind off of the relationship between Sam and his girlfriend Scarlett. Meanwhile, when Colin Dowling offers Maria a job in New York, Will proposes to her to keep from losing her.
When a mysterious man from the Carver's past returns to Boundary Mountain, his appearance at the Carver's Thanksgiving dinner rattles the entire family. Meanwhile, David tries to make amends with Max, Will contemplates proposing to Maria and Shelly continues to find herself the object of Michael and Sam's affection.
Sam is disheartened to learn that his deadbeat dad has spent his college fund on a hair-brained scheme to start a microbrewery. Meanwhile, when grandpa Carver's ex-girlfriend returns to town, David and Will learn that she's intending on selling her shares of the Mountain to Colin Dowling.
After the frozen body of the employee David recently fired for extortion is discovered on a ski lift, Travis takes advantage of the situation and tries to implicate David in the death. Meanwhile, Shelley does her best to repair her damaged relationship with Sam, after he finds her with Michael.
After Colin Dowling invites David and Will to speak at a board meeting about the lease agreement he made with the Carvers, Will tells David that the land they've leased Colin is actually worthless and he plans on revealing the information at the presentation to humiliate Dowling in front of the investors. Meanwhile, Shelly invites Michael over to a place that Sam is house-sitting so they can have some time alone together. When they trip the silent alarm, Sam is hurt and angered to discover Shelly and Michael in a compromising position.
Possessing incriminating information about David and the Tory Canyon accident, Travis and Colin strike a deal with him giving them control of the backside of The Mountain. Meanwhile, at the Carver's charity masquerade ball, a handsome millionaire courts Gennie, and Shelly and Michael continue their flirtation.
The tension between David, Will and Maria continues to grow and things get even more complicated when Max forms an unlikely friendship with Maria. Meanwhile, David is put in an uncomfortable predicament when he is blackmailed by one of the Boundary Mountain employees about his involvement in the death of a friend.
The Carvers are incensed when they learn that not only is Colin Dowling pilfering employees away from their company, but he's also planning the annual "Boundary Days" festival that the Carver patriarch started. To make a statement, David and Will organize an alternate event for the town with a gigantic beach party at the base of the Mountain. Meanwhile, when David stands Max up, she plots revenge; and Shelly's awkward relationship with Sam worsens because of her new friendship with Michael Dowling.
David spends the night in jail after a bar fight in Denver, then rushes back to the mountain to face both a financial crisis and Will's anger. Max comes clean to David about the Dowlings' scheme to take over the mountain and struggles to convince him that her feelings for him are genuine. Will's jealousy about Maria and David's prior relationship only pushes her away. Shelly has a difficult time accepting her grandfather's death.
After the death of his grandfather, David, the Carver family's prodigal son, returns to Boundary Mountain which is home to the Carvers' ski resort, a lush vacation spot set against the backdrop of extreme sports. Tensions soon rise when it is revealed that David has inherited the ski resort over Will, his business-savy brother. David struggles to figure out how to deal with this situation but things aren't made any easier when he's pressured by Travis, a family friend and a Boundary employee, to sell the resort to the entrepreneurial Dowling family. Also, Shelly, the youngest Carver and an aspiring snowboardist, once preparing to compete in the Gennie Carver Foundation Invitational, is now trying to deal with the death of her grandfather by pushing away her best friend, Sam.
