A cricket seeks to rescue a poor toymaker and his blind daughter from an exploitative miser.
Spoofing the lavish 30's musicals, Danny is Prince Wolfgang trying to avoid a marriage mad heiress. He takes refuge in a Broadway show threatened by mobsters. Songs include "I'll Take Romance" and "My Lucky Star."
During the Battle of the Bulge, word goes out to watch for German soldiers dressed as GIs. That's when black sergeant Chris Christiansen begins wondering if the GI who befriended him is really a friend--or the enemy.
Danny and Kathy prepare to welcome the 20-year-old Rusty home from the army. There are several changes that will surprise him but Rusty has a bigger one. He's married but doesn't know how to tell his parents.
Danny is joined by Don Rickles, singer/scuba diver John Gary and the Young Americans. Danny croons "Young and Foolish." John performs "Hawaiian Wedding Song." The Young Americans duet "Big Wide Wonderful World" with Danny.
