MAN learns from SUN and SHUI that HANG has been actively involved in smuggling. MAN claims to HANG that he has found out about his illegal dealings, following which he also announces his decision to compete with HANG for the chairmanship of HKCBA. HANG ends up winning all the votes and continues to hold office for another term. SUN shows even more respect for MAN now that he has come to realize his father’s real motive. MAN gives KWAN a chess set, in which a diamond necklace has been placed. FONG promises on behalf of MAN that the CHUNGs will be attending the grand re-opening of Kam Wu Hotel in Shanghai, for which she gets a terrible telling-off from her husband. FONG points out to LAN that YIN has never been willing to travel to Shanghai, and that the upcoming trip is going to be a wonderful one only shared by MAN and the two of them……
With barrister FOK BAK-CHEUNG as her defence counsel, KWAN is only sentenced to a fine, and will need to return to HANG’s mansion with the old man upon her release. HANG orders his men to catch KWAN, but MAN appears all of a sudden claiming that KWAN is no longer HANG’s housemaid. KWAN dresses herself up from top to toe and goes to MAN’s chamber to say thank you. MAN asks KWAN to perform for the CHUNGs once more, after which their relationship, whatever it may be, will come to an end. KWAN runs into SUN, to whom she reveals that she is totally clueless where her parents have been buried. With much sympathy for KWAN, SUN offers to help locate the burial place for her. SHUI passes two tiny pearls to FOON and asks her to make YAU a simple necklace. SHUI has assaulted a wrong person in a gang fight, for which he is asked to pay the victim a large sum of compensation……

HANG sends KWAN to Man Mo Temple for a public trial. KWAN refuses to follow HANG back to his mansion. In the confusion, she has accidentally injured police constable YUNG TAT-CHI. Hoping to give KWAN a helping hand, SUN urges the police to arrest her on charge of assault so that she can tentatively stay away from HANG. SUN goes to see KWAN in the detention room. KWAN is very grateful to SUN for his help, and slowly reveals to him how she has survived all these years. SUN asks MAN to rescue KWAN, but their conversation ends up in a blazing row. YAU gets reunited with her childhood friend KAM MUK-SHUI, with whom she grew up in the orphanage and shares a sibling-like relationship. SHUI brings YAU to CHI’s residence……
