Will returns to head office, full of new-management speak, courtesy of the training course he's been sent on to prepare him for his new position. A flash car, office and his own secretary have done nothing to minimise the contempt he still feels for certain senior staff. His radical solution, aimed at both annihilating those he personally dislikes, and at the same time achieving his targets for cost-cutting and redundancies, comes back to haunt him as his old foe prove they are unwilling to go without a fight. Meanwhile Poppy reeling from the tragic death of her brother in episode 17, finds escape from her loss in a hedonistic and trust-fund-rich passenger, Geneveve, who wants to party hard and needs some friends to accompany her. Poppy goes on a big night out but hits the ground hard the next day. Ed whom she blames for Jack's death anxiously looks on.
Lehann, Lorna and Rachel are on a flight to Kosovo, dropping off new troops, and returning with those at the end of their tour of duty. It's a windfall of a flight with the squaddies keen to get their hands on any contraband they can, knowing it will be the last they see of such luxuries for a while. The girls make a killing and the return flight promises more of the same, but an outbreak of fighting near the runway means they're grounded and have to overnight at the military base. After a staid dinner in the officers' mess they retire, only to meet up with their soldier-pals from the earlier flight which leads to an illicit booze-fuelled party on the plane. Will the Major get to act out his fantasy if it means they keep their jobs? Meanwhile, con artist extraordinaire, Jack, meets his match in queen-of-scams, Jackie, who needs to raise funds to pay the final instalment of her pneumatically-inspired breast enlargement. The plan seems failsafe and promises rich pickings for both of them
Poppy and Ed are rostered on a flight to Kos, ready to depart, when two newly weds rush on at the last moment. Ready to congratulate them with champagne the bride's face freezes and Ed is lost for words as they recognize each other from her hen night, when The Goldenboys were the star act. Pretending not to know each other things go progressively downhill as the new Mr and Mrs Edwards have to start their honeymoon without their luggage, or any documentation. Poppy has the bright idea of sharing the crew rooms, which should encourage her on-off romance with Ed, but things as ever go alarmingly awry. Meanwhile Janis helps Dan out by accompanying him on another trip across the channel in an effort to repay his debt. Unbeknown to them Croker's secret plan reaches fruition and he does the dirty, dialling 999. They land to a police welcoming committee acting on the tip-off. Rachel is tormented by the decision she has ahead of her and allows both men in her life to think the baby is theirs. M
The Office's Ewan Macintosh guests as Fat Ian who is involved in some dodgy dealing with Dan, while Rachel lets Dan and Mike both think they've fathered her baby.
Poppy is refusing to celebrate her 18th birthday despite being enroute to Barcelona with Will and Lorna, a combination that spells out late nights and hangovers. As it is she disembarks with a black eye to rival anything in a boxing ring and is even more determined to get an early night in front of the box. However she hasn't reckoned on the power of the two combined, and succumbs to Lorna's high-camp artistry with a make-up brush and reluctantly accompanies them to El Shafto to watch a drag act. To her dismay and intense embarrassment The Goldenboys pluck her out of the crowd, and her humiliation is compounded as she has to crawl off the stage on her knees, unintentionally attached to a man covered in not much more than gold paint. Meanwhile a flight from Monastir returns just after take-off and is grounded because of a health scare. Having to wait three hours for a port doctor to exam the sickly child adds to Rachel's tension as she debates whether to tell Dan her news. The patient's
Captains Croker and Peterson both have to re-sit their commands owing to unprofessional conduct in an earlier episode. They're both desperate not to lose their stripes and will try anything. Peterson even succumbs to some extra revision with the sexy instructor. There are those though who would prefer to see them fail. This episode sees them in the flight simulator and in the exam room, plus of course they are examined on a real time flight which is where the fun and games really begin. Croker is ambushed at every opportunity by old flame Janis as she attempts to get her own back, and Peterson has to risk it all to rescue Rachel who is caught up in a drunken fracas mid-flight. Needless to say Croker has something up his sleeve.
A group of Fresh Hope passengers combating their fear of flying are enroute to Madeira, and Poppy, not herself since the departure of Marco, takes great pleasure in making it worse for them at every opportunity. Group guru Jonathan, sensing her vulnerability, spends the evening with her - providing a shoulder to cry on, and boosting her confidence. They take a romantic walk on the beach at sunset but things take a darker turn when they return to the hotel and Poppy finds an unexpected hero in Janis. Will, also suffering from Marco's departure, is on self destruct and spends the evening getting more and more off his head. His irrational behaviour breaks up a crew party as no-one can keep up with him. Not wanting to be left on his own, and determined to continue the party at all costs, he takes his life in his hands, and climbs out onto the balcony to the horror of onlookers. Lehann is the only one he'll listen to. Meanwhile Captain Croker, having been demoted along with Captain Peterson
Captain Croker meets two young women in the airport, supposedly crew for a competitor, who then end up on his flight to Nice. Flattered by the attention they give him, he woos them with champagne. When they then ask to see the cockpit he obliges thinking as ever of what might be in it for him. He ends up getting a lot more than he bargained for and sets in motion a whole turn of events that effect not just him but the whole crew. The victim of a newspaper sting, and with careers on the line, Croker will rue the day he ever set eyes on Phoebe and Jilly. In turn Janis has to face up to what the Captain is really like, and Marco's decision breaks Poppy's heart. Meanwhile an unaccompanied minor leaves something behind on Lehann's flight which leads to accusations of anti-social behaviour and poor hygiene on the part of several passengers. Moonlight, a hippy, is blamed, as is single mum Terri, but neither is to blame for the terrible smell. Helen Lederer makes her disgust clear as a passeng
Lehann's first experience of a first class longhaul flight goes awry when Rachel's husband Mike unexpectedly boards the plane. Lehann and Captain Dan Peterson pretend to be a couple in order to prevent any suspicion about Rachel and the captain, but things take a turn for the worse when Mike, promising to entertain the four of them during the stopover, initiates a duck-hunting trip out in the Canadian wilderness. Back at home, new flat mate Susie has a secret passion for all things 'airline'. A cleaner at the airport she harbours a fantasy that one day she'll become a hallowed member of crew …… but will she get found out? Meanwhile Marco opens his heart to Susie, but not girlfriend Poppy, and reveals his secret ambition. Mike is played by East Enders' name, Billy Geraghty. A wealthy and successful businessman he has suspicions about his wife and Captain Dan Peterson, whose pilot training he funded. On filming in Spain with Emma Jane Portch, who plays Rachel: ""Emma's been fantastic - sh
Former Goldstar member Lorna makes her Mile High debut this week as she takes her first flight with Fresh Europe. Bright, bubbly and perma-tanned she's en route to celebrate her boyfriend Frank's 30th birthday in Malaga. His present, an enormous, specially-commissioned portrait that defies description, and even leaves Will dumbstruck, is stored in the hold. Her surprise arrival on Frank's boat ends in tears. Not the only thing in the hold, there's a howling which can be heard inside the aircraft. The owners of a Chihuahua called Billy, fearing for his life, threaten mutiny unless the plane diverts. The possible diversion is one of a number of disasters to befall Captain Dan Peterson. With both Captain Croker and Captain Peterson having been rostered for the same flight they decide the hierarchy on the toss of a coin and Croker finds himself 'acting down' as First Officer. Croker revels in the problems Dan has to face, leading Dan to try to undermine Croker another way ….. using Janis.
Series 2 resumes with the merger of budget airline Fresh! with superior longhaul operator, Goldstar. The new Fresh Europe and Fresh Global brands are to be a slimmed down operation and crewmembers are watching their backs as the rumours of 400 redundancies circulate. So it's not good news for Lehann, Poppy, Jodie and Will, that having struggled in the stifling 35 degree heat of a broken-down aircraft, they decide to get out on the wing for a spot of topless sunbathing and are subsequently snapped in a picture that makes the front page of a national newspaper. Things worsen for Poppy as two old school friends question her passport and threaten to reveal her deception, and then Marco lets her down big time as he gets too close to one her old pals. And as if Lehann's sunbathing trauma isn't enough, she also gets stung by a lowly delivery boy who pretends he's management and can influence her current downward career projectory, and then proceeds to fleece the whole crew... The merger means
Aboard a flight to Malaga, a young Asian man is overheard saying goodbye to his family and asking forgiveness. Some fellow-passengers, suspicious, decide to take matters into their own hands.
Will tries to sweet talk the boss into giving him his job back. Terrified passenger Lynn begs Jack to get her on a plane, by any means possible.
Lottery winner Carole decides that she would rather have a holiday with Will than with her family, and Charlotte asks Jack to take responsibility for his actions.
Lehann is arrested and charged with drug smuggling. Will, Gary the gay lawyer and Charlotte comfort her. The police search her mother?s house and scare Louis. She decides that Marvin is to blame and trashes his office. Charlotte realises that Jack is responsible for the drugs and chases after him when she realises that he has run away to Milan to be with Lucy. Marco is stuck down en route with Croker, and Janis. He tries to keep them apart, sets the fire alarm off and goes up in a Cessna. Slow decompression makes the homeward flight uncomfortable.
Jack scams booze, tortoises (?) and drugs to buy a ring for Lucy, with a little help from Charlotte. Lehann finally sorts things out with Marvin, although she can't make their date because she is arrested for (accidentally) carrying Jack's drugs through customs.
Gorgeous Charlotte runs away from her life as a PA and mistress when Harry, her lover and boss, leaves his wife for her. She completes training at Fresh!, making friends with Poppy and thoroughly annoying Janis. Harry's wife Rosa forces Charlotte to talk to her and face the consequences of her actions - but will Charlotte learn her lesson? Poppy decides that she will join Fresh! to get closer to Marco. However, she is too young to be a hostie. She steals her sister's passport and passes training - the hardest challenge being hiding from brother Jack. Insulted by her mother's lesbian worries, Poppy moves into the flat, blackmails Jack to keep her job, and gets to sleep in Marco's bed!
A CCTV tape reveals Janis and Croker having sex in the galley, and Will and Jack scamming. Will and Marco both race down the route to try to recover the tape. Will discovers that Marco loves Janis and is very upset: ""She's twice the man I am!"" Distraught, Marco decks his friend and confronts Janis. Janis confesses that she loves Croker. Marco gives her the tape. His life is now meaningless. Lehann (who is quietly dating Croker) sees the tape and is furious. Marvin comforts her. They get together - until Lehann sees his 'wife' and kids back at London airport. MARCO jumps off a jetty (suicide or swimming, who knows?) and is rescued by Poppy, who promptly falls in love with him
