Live from St James’s Park in London, Kirsty Young, AJ Odudu, Anita Rani, Anton Du Beke, Sophie Morgan and Owain Wyn Evans introduce the Platinum Pageant. It's a spectacular parade that brings together dancers, military displays, musicians, key workers and communities to mark HM the Queen’s 70-year reign. The presenters also bring you the best of the street parties from the UK
The third day of the platinum jubilee celebrations continues with a spectacular evening of entertainment. The concert at Buckingham Palace features a glittering array of global stars and performers from the worlds of music and dance to celebrate 70 years of HM the Queen’s reign. As darkness falls, stunning projections illuminate the palace during the performances. Kirsty Young is in St James’s Park in London with special guests, and backstage Roman Kemp and Richie Anderson catch up with some of the performers taking part.
Jubilee celebrations continue, marking HM the Queen’s 70-year reign with a national service of thanksgiving from St Paul’s Cathedral, acknowledging her dedicated service as monarch in the presence of senior members of the royal family. David Dimbleby will provide expert commentary from inside St Paul’s, leading us through the service. Sophie Raworth meets many of the key people taking part. From the BBC’s platinum jubilee studio at St James’s Park, Kirsty Young will be joined by special guests who share their experiences of spending time with the Queen and reflect on how important her faith has been through the years.
Kirsty Young hosts coverage of beacons being lit around the UK and Commonwealth to celebrate the platinum jubilee of Britain’s longest serving monarch. Carol Kirkwood, Gethin Jones and Holly Hamilton report from events taking place in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and Jermaine Jenas is outside Buckingham Palace, where senior members of the royal family will light the principal beacon. Celebrity guests join Kirsty to share their memories of meeting the Queen. The programme also reflects on the celebrations that took place earlier in the day, including an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at EastEnders and the pomp and ceremony of Trooping the Colour with its extended flypast.
Starting off the special extended bank holiday jubilee weekend, Huw Edwards, Kirsty Young and JJ Chalmers present live coverage of the platinum jubilee Trooping the Colour. This year, the 1st Battalion Irish Guards will troop their colour on Horse Guards Parade to celebrate the official birthday of HM the Queen. The morning’s events culminate with the annual appearance of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for a special jubilee flypast to celebrate the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
