Supergarcía Season 1 Full Episode Guide
The open fronts against El Larguero, the Prisa Group or Florentino Pérez mean that, after more than 40 years in the profession that culminated with his stages in Cope and Onda Cero, José María García was forced to leave the radio, feeling abandoned by his own media group. It is then that a new blow arrives, this time unexpected: the announcement of cancer with, they tell him, little chance of recovery. His faith and, for the first time, his family, become his fulcrums.
At the beginning of the 90s, José Ramón de la Morena became the new sports radio sensation. Little by little, he is stepping on the ground of the unbeatable José María García and attracting a younger audience. This rivalry between Supergarcía and El Larguero soon turns into a personal duel in which insults are the order of the day and which polarizes media groups, athletes and politicians. This battle, the disappearance of his friend, the journalist Antonio Herrero, and his bad relationship with the then Prime Minister, José María Aznar, seem to mark the beginning of the end.
On April 7, 2002, José María García makes his last program without saying goodbye to his listeners. Whoever was his secretary and his right-hand man, stores thousands of hours of radio and personal belongings from García's career in dozens of boxes. Twenty years later, those boxes are opened and García returns to a radio studio to take stock of his career, which began as a young journalist of race who revolutionized radio at dawn and soon became the most listened to, influential and highest paid in the country, after passing through TVE, Cadena SER and Antena 3 and with well-known coverage such as 23-F or the Cycling Tour of Spain.
