Episode 2 - The Treasure of the Nibelungen
First Aired: August. 09,2020

The Nibelungen – to this day, the German legend still fascinates modern adventurers. With the help of old writings, metal detectors and dowsing rods, they search for Siegfried's gold treasure. A manuscript from the 13th century leads to the Rhine, to the lost village of Lochheim. An archaeologist finds the oldest reference to the saga in Scandinavia. A treasure may exist - but does the trail lead to gold? The film asks: What is fact, what is fantasy? Even behind the most unbelievable elements of the saga are amazing facts. A blade expert forges Siegfried's magic sword using ancient instructions. Shards of bone provide an explanation for the legendary dragon. Historians and linguists explain who the Nibelungen were and how the treasure might have looked. Ultimately, the question remains whether the legendary gold has been found & is lying anonymous in a museum - or whether it has been awaiting discovery for over a thousand years.

Episode 1 - The Search for Attila's Grave
First Aired: August. 09,2020

Attila the Hun - all Europe trembled before the great leader. His life: victorious. His death: a myth. Nobody knows where he is buried. But researchers are following new tracks. They suspect the tomb of the legendary Hun in Hungary's lowlands. Legends point the way to his final resting place. Scientists and amateur researchers follow the tracks and check hidden clues - even under water. Spectacular weapons experiments show how the Huns became a legend 1500 years ago. With their horses and the innovative composite bow, they forced the Romans to flee. However, the rule of the Huns only lasted about 100 years. They leave no written records behind, but every archaeological find proves that the Huns are more than dangerous ghost riders. Attila is a far-sighted statesman who catapulted his nomadic people to the pinnacle of world domination. He remains a myth to this day.
