In 2004, 31-year-old Julie Keown dies of antifreeze poisoning in Waltham, MA. Detectives rule out suicide and accidental ingestion. Then, after untangling a web of lies, they turn to her husband, James, a popular radio host.
In 1994, 55-year-old Newport Beach millionaire Bill McLaughlin is shot dead in his mansion. The emotional killing and keys found in the door indicate a killer in his close circle but it takes detectives 15 years to get to the bottom of this twisted case.
At 11:00 PM on July 9th, 2004, 27-year-old graduate student and young father Jarrod Davidson is shot by a high-powered rifle outside his apartment in Santa Barbara, CA; lying next to him is a suspicious potted plant. He was in the middle of a nasty custody dispute but the DNA doesn't match his ex-wife, Kelee.
In 1996, 24-year-old Vietnamese-American graduate student Thien Minh Ly goes out rollerblading on the night of the Superbowl. He never returns and is later found stabbed on the Tustin High School tennis courts. There is almost no evidence, and the case runs cold until detectives catch wind of a letter revealing the shocking truth.
In 1985, pretty 23-year-old new mom, Linda Brown, is shot dead in her bedroom, and her 14-year-old stepdaughter Cinnamon confesses to the crime. The case is as good as closed, but detectives suspect there's more to this twisted family than meets the eye, and they're right.
