A brutal murder in their district make the Wagan police station the staging area for headquarter's investigation unit. The high ups are using it as a test case for a group of hotshot profilers bent on making detectives obsolete. Meanwhile, Sumire and Yukino help a young victim of a burglary while her dad is away.
Aoshima stands up to headquarters to keep Yukino out of their clutches. His stunt has bought him 48 hours to clear her. Can he and Waku find the suspect in time?
A tv idol has got the police station in an uproar. Meanwhile, Aoshima and Waku are assigned stake out duty in an effort to nab a drug dealer, but they get more than they bargained for when they find out that someone they know is involved.
Sumire is once again victimized by a creepy stalker that confuses her with an anime character he worships. Headquarters interferes once again, but Aoshima will not be kept from helping his colleague.
Muroi gets Aoshima assigned to help catch a suspect that might help him score some points with the brass. Aoshima is faced with the choice of towing the line or doing what he thinks is right.
Sumire investigates a purse snatching that has political implications due to the identity of the purse snatcher. The department is ordered to drop the case, but Sumire won't let it go. Meanwhile, Aoshima continues to work with the murder victim whose lost her voice.
Mr. Waku is informed that he might be the target of a detective killer out for revenge. Meanwhile, Aoshima has to fend off an insurance saleswoman, try to help a crime victim speak, take Sumire out to eat, and avoid being blown up.
It's Aoshima's first day on the job as a detective. When a report of a murder comes in, he is filled with excitement, causing annoyance to his more seasoned colleagues. Aoshima soon discovers that local detectives take a back seat in murder investigations, mirroring the bureaucratic suppression he faced as a salaryman.
