Tamara has had it with Paul’s perfectionism. He started to reno the bedroom almost a year ago, and doesn’t know what to do next—so rather than do it wrong, he’s stopped altogether.
Kim fancies herself a chef, and David wants to make her a kitchen she can really cook in. But he’s gotten off to a terrible start and flooded their kitchen with cement!
Tremayne is trying to fill his dad’s shoes and fix the verandah on their historic century home. But so much has gone wrong that Bryan will have to come in and teach him how to start fresh and make the two-tiered verandah structurally sound, and make his parents proud.
Bill fancies himself a handyman, but his wife Joe-Anne disagrees. She’s tried to cover his reno mistakes with decorative touches, but now that the raccoons have moved into their ramshackle shed, she’s calling for reinforcements.
Amy and Alex are trying to go green. She has terrible allergies, and he doesn’t want to waste a thing, so Bryan will teach them that it’s easy to be green when doing a basement reno, using products and practices that have a great environmental profile.
Donna wants to turn a large bedroom into a wheelchair-accessible bathroom for her son Wesley, but she’s running out of resources and know-how. Bryan will teach her how to make the room safe and accessible.
Aaron and Evadne bought a fixer-upper as their first home, and both are eager to get their hands dirty. He’s tried to reno the laundry and she’s tried to fix the basement window.
Donna’s husband Chris refused to fix their outdated and badly damaged kitchen, so while he was visiting home in Greece, she took matters into her own hands. She demolished the kitchen, but didn’t know what to do next, so they’ve been living in shambles ever since.
Single dad Dan has two young daughters and is living in a messy and potentially dangerous incomplete reno. During the demolition, he had grand plans, but really doesn’t know how to put them into action. Bryan shows him how to make his house safe and sound for his family.
Paul has started to reno the basement to add some much needed space to the crowded house. His wife Lisa is concerned that he really doesn’t know how to proceed, and that he might be making some dangerous choices!
Doug and Kim have some space issues. The laundry room is in such bad need of repair that she won’t even let her three sons in there to learn how to do their own laundry.
Paul is determined to finally finish the boutique bathroom his wife Heather has always wanted. But the last reno Paul did was so terrible, that she’s begging Bryan to come in and teach him how to do it right!
Joe is a Baker by trade, and wanted a brand new kitchen at home, but didn’t follow directions, so every tile in his kitchen is cracked, the dishwasher rattles so much it’s put a hole in the wall, and his wife Tosha is embarrassed for him!
Mike gutted a second floor room to make it into an office, and thought it was going to be a piece of cake to fix—until two major structural problems brought him to a screaming halt.
Bill’s wife Joan has been reluctant to let him renovate the kitchen, because the ‘thrifty’ renovations he has done in the past were poorly done, using leftover materials, badly fitted into the space.
22-year-old Scott promised his mother he’d renovate her basement, so he could move in and save money for a new place. He’s started, but he’s so wet behind the ears that he doesn’t know where to turn next.
Greg and Tracey have bought their first house and it’s a real fixer-upper. Greg thinks that he’s up to the task, but he’s made a real mess of his dining and living room.
Les wants to sit and enjoy his time at his vacation home, but the deck he built out of found lumber and old pallet is falling apart and is a hazard to walk on!
Bob has a handyman father-in-law who wants Bob to do the best for his daughter, Laura. Bob doesn’t know the first thing about renovation but tried his hand at it anyway, and made a huge mess of their small bathroom.
Ed and Jocelyn want to add to their living space by closing in their deck. DIY guy Jocelyn has made a complete mess with makeshift fixes like covering it in plastic sheeting and attaching roof joists onto the outside paneling. It looks junky, and it’s alternately too hot and too cold to enjoy.
Tony Armstrong is the king of temporary fixes. He has a large kitchen (and a large family) that needs some permanent solutions. Can Bryan help Tony learn how to do the job right, once and for all, so he doesn’t have to do the same lame reno fixes time and time again?
Julius is the dive-in type, and he ploughs into renovations without any foresight. His wife Angie is grateful that he’s tried to make a dog house, cat house, and garbage shed, but he’s made a complete mess of each project, and torn up the patio as well!
Scott is in deep trouble. He’s started, and stalled, a bathroom reno at potty-training time, and wife Catherine is furious with him. Their daughter can’t make it all the way down to the basement in time, and their tiny bathroom hasn’t seen progress since Scott gave up.
Ulrike is a DIY dynamo who single-handedly dug and built a walk up entrance to her basement. Unfortunately, she didn’t do it to code and has been shut down twice by the city building inspector, leaving a big mess in front of her house.
Karen is fed up with her husband Robert’s attempts to fix and finish the family rec room.
Martin doesn’t know where to turn - his wife Karen got a hold of some power tools and ripped apart the kitchen. Just when Bryan thinks he’s seen it all, an even bigger structural disaster is exposed in the ceiling. Will Karen be able to contain her enthusiasm for power tools long enough to learn her lesson from Bryan?
