It is now a race against time to discover who the fifth person is and to save another life. Martin finds himself once again faced with making an impossible choice.
The list of conspirators doing the bidding of Hirtmann, also grows. Another disturbing video gives proof of a fourth suspect in the ring of serial rapists, but there are still some unexpected surprises.
The lists of suspects and victims continues to grow with some names on both lists! Irene goes on her own to pursue some clues of special interest to her. How long can Diane/Helene keep up the charade, especially with her father in town and worried?
Another gruesome mutilation murder and this one ties back to an older case through Irene Ziegler. Martin looks into why a judge asked for him to be placed on this case and another clue leads him back to Toulouse. Martin keeps the information about Diane/Helene from the clinic, but warns her of the danger she faces.
There is more than just one link and slowly the connections are revealed. There could be more than one sinister plot brewing also. That's not even taking into account the personal conflicts that are also playing out.
Commandant Martin Servaz is under pressure to return and investigate the decapitation and mutilation of a very expensive horse; not the usual task of local police, but the owner of the horse is very rich and provides a lot of jobs to the community. The real surprise is when evidence is found to link this case to an older, controversial case that Martin closed.
