Men Don't Cry is a TVB period comedy series broadcast in October 2007, to celebrate TVB's 40th Anniversary. The shown was rerun from Thursday, January 29, 2009 to February 26, 2009 from Monday to Friday at 12:05am on TVB Jade in Hong Kong. The Chinese title is a reference to Shi Jian, who had played as villains in many Wong Fei Hung movies featuring Kwan Tak Hing as Wong Fei Hung, and later in TVB's television series. Reversing the trends set by previous Wong Fei Hung stories, the title archvillain assumes the leading role of the series, with Wong Fei Hung as the supporting role.

TANG requests CHOI to work closely with KIN for future deals. CHOI suggests that it is time to stop but KIN doesn’t agree with him. KIN proposes to capture all the old people in CHOI’s Hundred Elderly House. They organize a group homecoming tour and all the old people are keen to join the tour. KIN reveals to TSUI that this homecoming tour is actually a trap for all the old people. TSUI tries to inform HUNG but she is captured by CHOI. TSUI discovers that CHOI has tied up his wife and CHOI tries to tie TSUI up as well. KIN arrives and he plays tricks to release TSUI so that she could inform HUNG about the case. All the old people in Hundred Elderly House are kidnapped by CHOI. When reaching the designated transaction point, CHOI tries to kill KIN. While they fight with each other, HUNG arrives at the site. CHOI doesn’t want to be captured by the police so he kills himself……
KIN discusses the situation with HUNG. HUNG suspects that the police are involved in the case. KIN replaces PAU’s role in trading the people with TANG. FEI tries hard to persuade KIN to return to Po Chi Lam. He pretends that he is mad in order to get close to KIN. Everybody in Po Chi Lam believes that FEI is mad because of KIN. FEI reveals that he saw KEI going into the car of FUNG, CHOI’s subordinate, during the night when PAU got an accident. FUNG is killed when he runs away from the police. HUNG believes that everything is over and he asks KIN to return. However, KIN claims that he wants to be the only leader in Lower Flag Street. He rushes to Po Chi Lam with his subordinates and threatens that he will set the house on fire. HUNG is enraged and kicks him out. TANG introduces KIN to the real commander behind all those missing cases. KIN is shocked to find that this person is CHOI…
Another major clan's leader LAK KEI suddenly tries to fight for the ownership of a place with PAU. KIN comes to rescue PAU on time and he asks PAU to take him as his subordinate. This is actually a plan made by KIN and HUNG. KIN tries to get close to PAU in order to investigate the story behind all those missing cases. In fact, PAU has sold those missing people to a Japanese man, Ichiro Fujiwara, as the subjects for their army’s experiments. TANG suddenly shows interests in PIK and asks PAU to bring PIK staying for a night with him. PAU is worried and doesn’t know what to do. KIN voluntarily helps PAU to mesmerize PIK. PIK is endangered but HUNG comes to rescue her on time. Even though KIN fails to secure PIK to TANG, his initiative has gained the trust of PAU and TANG. On the other hand, PIK is deeply disappointed on KIN and she decides to give him up completely……
KIN is upset for his relationship with PAU has been worsening and all his Po Chi Lam affiliates have gone. Later, KAI suddenly comes back to Po Chi Lam with all the affiliates and KIN is overjoyed. PIK pushes KIN to marry her. KIN is shocked and tells PIK that he wants to separate with her. However, PIK insists that she wants to marry KIN and doesn't care about her career. With the treatment of NI, HUNG is getting better and better. He therefore returns to Po Chi Lam to look for KIN. They find that KUEN, the leader of another major clan, is missing. This is already the forth missing case in the village. KIN discovers that PIK has turned his room into a bridal chamber. He is very angry and tells PIK that he wants a separation. PIK therefore suspects that KIN actually loves TSUI. HUNG gets back to Po Chi Lam. NI discovers that KIN replaces HUNG's medical eye drops with water……
HUNG announces to everybody that he needs to stay away for a while to regain his energy and health. During his absence, KIN will take over Po Chi Lam. All the affiliates are not happy about this decision and some of them even want to leave Po Chi Lam. KIN takes over the place and starts to mediate between conflicting clans in the village. TSUI discovers that HUNG is suffering from bad eyesight and promises to take care of him. CHAN TSAT tries to vent his anger on PAU. KIN asks PAU to take it easy. PAU misconceives that KIN is playing tricks again and KIN is speechless. FEI overhears TSAT’s conversation with KAI and realizes that they want to kill KIN. He informs KIN immediately so that he could get himself prepared for any mishap. Later, TSAT really hurts KIN with a knife… On the next day, TSAT comes to apologize with his followers……
Before KIN faints, he hears somebody crying for help and he also sees that some people have kidnapped TSUI and CHOI’s wife… CHOI is threatened to pay ransom money. He doesn’t know what to do and rushes to YUEN for help but YUEN doesn’t seem to care. On the other hand, TING steps in and suggests a plan. KIN finds that HUNG and the others are not taking action so he follows the hints all the way to a fishery village. He sneaks into the kidnappers’ hut and TING suddenly appears… CHOI pretends to accept TING’s plan but he secretly informs the central police station to investigate the case. YUEN is arrested eventually but he claims that TING has killed TSUI and CHOI’s wife already. HUNG rushes to the fishery village and finds that KIN has beaten away TING. However, KIN is trapped in a fire… KIN risked his life to rescue the victims and HUNG believes that KIN has become a new man. HUNG has lost part of his eyesight because of KIN’s drugs……
CHAN PING, Head of the Clan, tries to kill KIN. HUNG rushes in and rescues KIN. YUEN accuses KIN and FEI for having relationship with the clan members. With the help of CHOI, the two of them has escaped from a death sentence but they have to work as an excrement collector as a form of punishment. HUNG is worried for he will represent Guangdong to enter the country’s lion dancing contest. He used to be the champion with YING in the past two years but this time he is not sure if he could win again without his father. On the contest day, HUNG discovers that he cannot walk properly. KIN suddenly appears and tells HUNG that he had put some drugs in HUNG’s meals in the past few days. If HUNG doesn’t continue to take the drugs, he will surely lose the match. HUNG eventually wins the match. KIN is startled to discover that HUNG didn’t take the drugs this time. He is deeply shocked for his plan didn’t work. He suddenly vomits blood and faints…
Being threatened by KIN’s knife, FEI finally reveals the secret of a hidden treasury. They deduce that the treasury is located under a tree in the countryside. However, FEI actually knows that the treasury is hidden inside Po Chi Lam. While shooting for the last scene, HUNG makes a mistake that provides a chance for KIN to rescue PIK. TSUI witnesses all these and finally allows PIK to date with KIN. KIN investigates his mother’s photo and discovers a clear birthmark on his father’s arm. He realizes that FEI is not his real father. KIN beats FEI fiercely. FEI asks for his mercy by telling him that the treasury is hidden inside Po Chi Lam. CHOI discovers the true identity of KIN’s father and runs to discuss the matter with HUNG. KIN and FEI play tricks to make everybody leave. They then dig out the treasury at Po Chi Lam but members from Peacock Clan suddenly arrive……
KIN finally acknowledges FEI as his father during the most critical moment. However, he asks PIK to keep this secret for him. He claims that he cannot forgive FEI completely and he has to give him a probation period. In order to obtain the treasures, FEI reluctantly agrees. HUNG learns that some members from Peacock Clan have sneaked into the drama house to work so he tries to investigate it. KIN asks FEI to play football with him. They meet YUEN and SHING by chance and the four of them start a competition. KIN and FEI win the match. Encouraged by the crowd, HUNG asks TSUI out for a country walk. HUNG doesn’t know how to please a woman and he ends up collecting herbs in the countryside with TSUI. TSUI finds him extremely boring. KIN discovers WAI’s dead body. CHOI questions FEI on the case and he is suspicious on him. KIN investigates the jade pendant and discovers some cracks on it……
TSUI has broken her front teeth and NI comes to give her treatments. TSUI wakes up and rushes to KIN for revenge. NI tries to mediate by promising her that a western dentist Dr. Thomas could help TSUI. PAU is released from the jail. While KIN takes a walk with PAU, Dr Thomas is found harassing TSUI. KIN worries that Dr Thomas will not mend the teeth for TSUI. He pretends to be a prostitute and takes pictures of Dr Thomas’ disgraceful manners. He uses the photos to threaten Dr Thomas for mending TSUI’s teeth. After the operation, TSUI becomes a pretty lady. Everybody tries to match her up with HUNG. NI gains supports from the film company and she decides to shoot a kung-fu movie. The heroine is PIK while the hero is KAI. However, NI believes that KIN is the more suitable character for this. FEI finds that his gambling friend WAI is killed by Peacock Clan accidentally……
PIK finds that KIN is looking at his deceased mother’s photos. She insists to accompany him to his hometown to look for his father. FEI overhears their conversation. CHOI tells HUNG that members of the grave robbing organization “Peacock Clan” have sneaked into Lower Flag Street. FEI is shocked to learn about this. He was once a member of Peacock Clan. When he learnt that the Clan has snatched 9 precious jade pendants from the royal family, he has stolen 3 pendants from them. TSUI is worried that KIN will harm PIK when she accompanies him to his hometown. She therefore volunteers to accompany KIN by herself. FEI plays tricks to stop them from leaving. KIN prays in the temple but he accidentally discovers that FEI is his father. TSUI wants to be a spinster so that she could stop thinking of KIN. PIK is worried and she rushes to KIN for help. KIN comes to stop TSUI and they fight with each other. KIN mistakenly pushes TSUI onto the floor……
HUNG’s good friend MA TAK CHOI comes to visit him. HUNG thinks that CHOI is having some financial problems but it turns out that CHOI is going to be the deputy superintendent in the police station. CHOI investigates the dead body of LUNG and discovers that LUNG might be a member of a big grave robbing organization. FEI overhears the conversation. FEI is actually a runaway member of that organization. He tries to hide his jade pendant that shows his true identity but KIN seizes the pendant away. KIN learns from NI that PIK’s “human phobia” could be cured. He eventually helps PIK to overcome her psychological obstacles. FEI sneaks into KIN’s house to find his jade pendant. He accidentally discovers some photos and love letters in KIN’s hat. NI and the others try to organize a birthday party for KIN but KIN refuses to attend. Later, KIN discovers some hidden photos in the hat given by his deceased mother.
KIN tries to take advantage of NI. He tells NI that his affiliates are surly because nobody takes good care of them. He asks NI to treat them nicely. FEI and the others misconceive that NI is interested in them. HUNG asks KIN to stay in the temple and copy the texts of some books. KIN sneaks out of the temple secretly. He tries to dig a big hole along the way to the temple so that HUNG will fall into the trap when he visits the temple. KIN meets PIK on his way and they become friends. KIN is bullied by TING and his subordinates. KIN is enraged and swears that he will take revenge by killing them. Later, KIN discovers the dead body of TING’s subordinate LUNG in the hole he dug. YUEN believes that KIN has killed LUNG and he decides to give him a death sentence. KIN asks PIK to be his witness but PIK is too scared to speak up in front of all the strangers. At the execution ground, KIN finally finds a way to make PIK speaking the truth……
HUNG rescues KIN and hides him in a cave. TSUI’s family members try hard to find a husband for her but they fail all the time. TSUI is very upset and tells KUK that she wants to be a spinster. The villagers set up a statue of HUNG in the street. KIN suddenly appears and destroys the statue. The villagers all chase after him to beat him. KIN runs into Po Chi Lam and tells HUNG that he wants to learn martial arts from him. HUNG accepts him as his affiliate. TSUI’s ex-employer from overseas, FOK CHUN NI, comes to visit her. NI wants to produce a video documentary on Chinese martial arts. TSUI brings NI to HUNG and HUNG allows NI to stay in Po Chi Lam. Every guy in Po Chi Lam is flattered by her charm but NI only shows appreciation on KIN…
Under KIN’s influence, SHING becomes addicted to opium. KIN subsequently gains full control over YUEN because of SHING. KIN makes trouble at Tsu Yin Restaurant. HUNG steps in and realizes that KIN has been appointed as an official in the police force. TSUI discloses KIN’s secret in the form of a comedy to everybody. The villagers learn about KIN’s secret and they are no longer afraid of him. HUNG sneaks into YUEN’s house and discovers that his son SHING is seriously addicted to opium. KIN is enraged for TSUI has disclosed his secret to the public and he tries to kill her. HUNG rushes to the scene to stop it. HUNG successfully helps SHING to get rid of the addiction. YUEN fires KIN and sends him to a very remote location in the northwest. TING bribes the policemen to torture KIN. KIN eventually falls down from the cliff. TING announces that KIN has died and everybody is overjoyed……
HUNG tells KIN that if he could leave TSUI alone, he will hand over the title deed of the Spinsters’ house to him. KIN knows that HUNG doesn’t really mean it and asks TSUI to resolve the matter for him. FEI sneaks into KIN’s home to carry out investigation. While hiding himself in the dark, FEI finds that KIN has invited TSUI to his home for a drink. KIN gives some infatuating medicine to TSUI and TSUI faints. KIN wants TSUI to misconceive that she has slept with him. FEI is discovered and PAU pushes him to the sea. TSUI wakes up to find herself in ragged clothes. KIN admits that they had slept together and promises to propose marriage to her family. On their way to TSUI’s home, PAU seizes KIN. He threatens TSUI that he will kill KIN unless she hands over the title deed of their Spinsters’ house. TSUI is frightened and hands over the document to PAU. KIN announces to everybody that everything was a plot only and TSUI is deeply shocked……
LIN and HIN use the restaurant’s public money to set up their own business. TSUI discovers that a large amount of money is missing and accuses KIN for stealing. KIN accepts the accusation silently and leaves… LIN is being cheated and all the money is gone. HIN is frightened and tries to ask KIN to help. KIN brings HIN to a westerner’s teahouse to work as a model but the villagers misconceives that they are working as gigolos. TSUI and LIN learn about the news and they rush to the teahouse to find them. Everybody finally realize that they had misunderstood KIN. TSUI is grateful for what KIN has done for her friends and their relationship has improved drastically. KIN tries to declare his love to TSUI in a cave. The thunder comes suddenly and they are trapped inside the cave. KIN shouts madly and discloses his childhood misfortune to TSUI. TSUI is deeply touched and she develops sympathy on him…
KIN cannot bear the torture anymore so he decides to escape from the prison with FEI. The two of them almost succeed but KIN accidentally faints and TING captures him again… TING tortures KIN fiercely and he is sent to the hospital. FEI visits KIN and discovers that KIN has become mad after all the tortures. YUEN returns from work. He releases KIN and FEI. KIN returns to his kung-fu school and realizes that PAU has betrayed him. PAU kicks KIN out and threatens KIN that he is going to kill him. No one wants to save KIN and he becomes homeless. However, this is actually a plot designed by KIN to seize the Spinsters’ house from TSUI… KIN tries everyway to torture himself so as to win the confidence of TSUI and HUNG. HUNG believes that KIN has changed but TSUI doesn’t believe in him. KIN therefore tries even harder to torture himself and TSUI finally decides to take KIN in as one of her restaurant’s staffs…
HUNG cannot tolerate KIN’s bad behaviour anymore and he tries to give him a lesson. KIN fights back by using clandestine weapons, and HUNG nearly loses the fight. Luckily, PIK escapes at the critical moment to rescue HUNG. KUK and the others are not able to fight with KIN. They ask MOR to write a letter to YUEN for help. KIN obtains the letter and accuses MOR for committing adultery with KUK. This incident has embarrassed the old lady KAM a lot and she tries to commit suicide. KIN witnesses the scene accidentally. While trying to rescue KAM, KIN accidentally sets the place on fire. HUNG rushes in to stamp out the fire and he believes that KIN had intentionally set fire to the place. He denounces KIN openly with TSUI and the villagers. YUEN cannot bear the pressure from the crowd and he arrests KIN eventually. KIN continues to bully around in the prison and asks FEI to be his follower……
KIN sneaks into HUNG’s house to poison him but his plan fails. On the next day, HUNG finds a letter of challenge from KIN and he decides to accept the challenge. HUNG arrives and KIN threatens HUNG with YING’s ancestral tablet. HUNG has no choice but to admit defeat. YUEN invites the central authorities to a banquet. KIN tries to please YUEN by requesting HUNG to perform lion dancing in front of everybody. TSUI believes that HUNG is a weak man and refuses to marry him. YUEN’s geomantic fortuneteller advises him that the Spinsters’ house in front of his house is hindering his business development. YUEN requests KIN to take over the Spinsters’ house by all means. KUK and the other spinsters have asked TSUI to safeguard their title deed for the house. KIN discovers this and he catches PIK. FEI sneaks into KIN’s home to take back the ancestral tablet. KIN accuses FEI for stealing and FEI is arrested…
Bully KIN, a widely recognized character in Lower Flag Street, always go to the beach to watch troop training recently. KIN is actually a top villain in Lower Flag Street and he threatens the villagers for money all the time. KIN teaches martial arts in a kung-fu school and TING comes to challenge him. KIN beats him off with bad tricks. KIN meets TSUI at the wharf and helps her to fight against the thief. However, KIN realizes that TSUI is buck-toothed so he tries to escape immediately. TSUI bites KIN accidentally and KIN decides to take revenge. He plays tricks on TSUI and she ends up biting the wooden pillar of a pagoda in the countryside. KIN’s plan has succeeded and he is overjoyed. HUNG arrives at Lower Flag Street and finds that KIN is telling everyone that he had beaten off HUNG’s father YING. HUNG is very upset and rushes to KIN’s kung-fu school to ask for an explanation…
