Coverage of tonight's Uefa Cup third-round, first-leg match from Balaidos Stadium in Spain. Liverpool provided the only success story in an otherwise disastrous Uefa Cup second round for the English clubs. Their passage to the third round was earned with a 2-2 second-leg draw in Valencia that secured an away-goals victory. Now the Reds face a tricky away match against another Spanish side, Celta Vigo, the team that knocked out Aston Villa in the last round and who have made a very strong start in their domestic league.

Coverage of tonight's Uefa Cup second-round, second-leg match from Elland Road. Leeds battled hard in the first leg at Rome's Olympic stadium to come away defeated by the only goal of the game, a 17th minute strike by Roma's Marco Delvecchio , and were unlucky not to earn at least a draw after hitting the post twice. Their performance was made all the more impressive considering the club's recent managerial difficulties, a Uefa touchline ban for caretaker-boss David O'Leary and the second-half sending off of midfielder Bruno Ribeiro. A similar display will be needed to reverse the deficit against Roma's multi-national squad.

Roma comfortably overcame Danish side Silkeborg 3-0 on aggregate in their first-round tie and can boast a formidable multi-national squad that includes two stars of Brazil's France 98 World Cup party-Cafu and Aldair.

Despite looking the most likely team to score for much of the first leg, Blackburn Rovers succumbed to a spectacular late winner from Lyon defender Jacek Bak to trail on going into this evening's clash. Manager Roy Hodgson 's men need to reverse the poor scoring record that has seen them struggle to keep up with the early-season pace in the FA Premiership, especially as they can expect to face a defensive Olympique Lyonnais side eager to preserve their vital away goal scored at Ewood Park a fortnight ago.
