Professor Noel Fitzpatrick pushes the boundaries of veterinary medicine, and treats a German shepherd puppy that needs surgery on his hips and front leg using groundbreaking cell treatment. The vet must also perform delicate surgery on a chihuahua suffering from a neck deformity compressing its spinal cord - however, one false move could be fatal. Plus, a rescue dog with deformed front legs is brought into the surgery.
A Staffordshire bull terrier requires attention when it suffers complete paralysis in its back legs, and a Devon rex cat is brought in after being struck by a car. Its eight-year-old owner faces a tough decision when X-rays reveal a severely broken pelvis and a ruptured bladder. Plus, a young cavalier king has had seven operations in a bid to fix its knee joint, and Noel tries to resolve the problem.
Senior neurologist Dr Colin Driver comes up with an unconventional solution to treat a nurse's cat, Icicle which has been rushed into the surgery after being poisoned. The owners of a rare Polish sheepdog, Bodie with a failed fracture repair on a broken leg are faced with the option of having the leg removed, or trying an innovative total elbow replacement. Plus, a self-confessed `crazy cat lady' brings in a ginger tom, Buggy urgently needs leg surgery.
A Russian blue cat, Maya is brought into the surgery with a shattered jaw after a dog attack, and a man living in a homeless shelter brings in his best friend Spud, a Labrador cross with a lame back leg. Plus, Noel tries to help straighten a deformity in a six-month-old Chihuahua puppy's leg.
