Kohei Kuryu is a former juvenile delinquent who drops out of junior high and goes on to earn a high school equivalency diploma. After passing the law board exams, Kuryu becomes a prosecutor. Not your typical prosecutor, which is quickly seen through the clothes that he wears, Kuryu possesses quick instincts and a kind of cleverness that only someone raised on the streets could have. Maiko Amamiya is a shrewd public prosecutor who has her eyes set on passing the exam to become a deputy prosecutor and tries her best to be noticed by her boss. Kuryu, on the other hand, after earning a reputation for doing top-notch work, is transferred to Amamiya's division, and finally opens his eyes to the possibility of promotion. Unfortunately, his unprecedented work behavior abruptly brings things to a halt. Although earning a reputation as a bad apple, the influence from Kuryu's strong pursuit of justice slowly begins to change things around him.

Due to the criticisms Kuryu received from the press, he is ordered to be transferred to Ishigaki Island in ten days. His last case revolves around a security guard who was murdered in a stadium. However, the Special Investigation Unit steps in to question the same suspect. Will Kuryu be able to close the case before his transfer?
A news reporter, Enomoto Yuki, is the target of an attack from an unknown man where Kuryu decides not to prosecute the suspect. She publicizes the story, but the suspect ends up committing suicide. The public questions Kuryu's responsibility as a prosecutor and his past is revealed.
Amamiya encounters a dangerous situation on the way to work. Unbeknownst to her, it is the beginning of serial attacks towards her. Furthermore, an unknown man attacks the prosecutor's office keeping everyone uneasy to go to the office. As they investigate the list of suspects, she ends up staying with Kuryu due to the danger of being targeted.
Kuryu meets his old fling, Tatsumi Eriko, who is coincidently hired as the defense attorney for the same medical malpractice case he's working on. Later, he finds out that she's doing all sorts of things to conceal the truth just to win the case. In the meantime, the romantic interest between Amamiya and Kuryu gradually blooms.
A new paralegal, Masaki, arrives to replace Amamiya as she is working for two prosecutors at once. Endo and Suetsugu are tiring of how they are being treated at work and join Masaki in opening a crepe shop. Kuryu is set to make a managing director who molested his employees to admit his misconduct.
A judo practitioner, Yasuda, is prosecuted for stabbing and killing an off-duty patrol officer. Kuryu senses that something is fishy since it doesn't make sense for someone with a high rank in judo to carry a knife around. The president of a loan shark ring, Mr. Otagawa, is then arrested by the chief police after Yasuda admits that he is only following orders to turn himself in. How can Kuryu prove that Mr. Otagawa is responsible for the murder and not Yasuda?
Kuryu and Amamiya investigate an affair that resulted in the husband slashing the wife with a kitchen knife. Back in the office, an uproar is caused by a rumor of an affair of a detective, and Amamiya's sudden confession of having a boyfriend. Misuzu is unhappy about Shibayama's reaction to the affair rumors.
A female university student is murdered by her stalker. The suspect, Oyamada Shuji, is hospitalized but he soon flees, resulting in the risk of the Tokyo Prosecutor's Office losing face, and even Egami's job. Meanwhile, Shibayama gets headhunted by a law firm. In the midst of that, Kuryu investigates a dine and dash case.
Amamiya and Egami drink at a bar while talking about relationships. They encounter a couple fighting over something. Drunk Amamiya confronts the couple and Kuryu who is nearby walks over to stop her from interfering with the man who is holding a knife. The man ends up wounding the woman on her wrist. The woman then sues the man for criminal injury. Meantime, the story unfolds as Kuryu and Amamiya discover that the woman is actually involved in a marriage fraud.
A man falls to his death during a fight that involves a politician's son. As the prosecutor in charge, Kuryu investigates the case while his other work had to be delegated to his colleagues. Tired of his antics, they all complain. At the same time, Egami doesn't give up on Amamiya, and Shibayama continues his affair with Nakamura.
Kuryu Kohei is a newcomer prosecutor from Aomori of the Tokyo Prosecutor's Office. Upon his transfer, he is immediately put in charge of a corruption case involving a congressman and an underwear theft. His new colleagues do not seem to put their trust in him because of his nonchalant attitude. A rumor seems to be going around the office involving Amamiya, Chief, and Egami.
