Agent Luciano Russo and Superintendent Salvatore Sciacca are urgently called to the hospital where the lifeless body of a man lying on the ground was found, with his skull smashed. They will discover that the victim, admitted to the oncology department, is a shoemaker with a past as a killer.
The agents of the Sant'Andrea police station investigate a crime that took place at the Platano Hotel, a small hotel for couples seeking discretion. The investigations are directed towards a shady individual living with a stripper, the victim's secret love.
Inspector Walter Battiston, who has infiltrated the prison, tries to extract information on the shady trafficking linked to the disposal of toxic waste and to find the link that links the trafficking from northern to southern Italy. When the prisoner starts talking and confesses to Battiston that he is very worried about his brother, a small window opens to shed light on the case.
The Sant'Andrea police station is involved in investigating a massive trafficking of chemical waste which appears to have large-scale connections. Battiston is sent to prison to extort confidences from an alleged driver who may have important connections with the criminal network.
At night a group of thugs armed with iron bars enters a technical institute, devastating it. Arriving near the school, the officers find a seriously injured janitor and, half hidden by a shelf, the body of a boy. Next to the corpse an iron bar stained with blood. The police interrogate the students to reconstruct the victim's profile.
The body of a young psychologist is found in his office inside a family home. To give the alarm to the men of the Sant'Andrea police station was a neighborhood priest, an old acquaintance of the agents. The investigations focus on the guests of the family home and it turns out that a large sum of money has disappeared from the community coffers.
The agents of the Sant'Andrea police station investigate the disappearance of Dr. Veneziani, collaborator of the coroner. For some time, the woman had been on the trail of a small beggar of Albanian origin whom she had met on the street. Precisely the exploiters of the child are strongly suspected of having attacked her and reduced her to the point of death.
The body of a girl, with her head smashed, is found at the edge of a swimming pool. The victim's brother, a former water polo champion, revealed to the investigators that her sister was part of a musical group with which she used to stay until late in the evening. The police's first suspicions focus on the victim's brother and secret lover.
Due to a fortuitous accident in a cemetery, it is discovered that a woman's coffin actually holds the body of another person. The mystery thickens when the autopsy reveals that the woman found in the coffin was poisoned, setting up the hypothesis of a murder never discovered before.
The body of a boy is found in the room run by a small Camorra boss, already known to the police for his cocaine trafficking. The deputy commissioner Cafasso is a longtime friend of the father of the dead boy, for this reason he will be entrusted with the thankless task of communicating the terrible news to the family.
At the conclusion of the investigations conducted in Palermo, the chief commissioner Giorgio Pettenella completely clears the superintendent Salvatore Sciacca of being accused of being a corrupt policeman in the service of the mafia. The police continue the investigation to reveal the links of the Palermo mafia clan of the Paternò with the Neapolitan Camorra.
Following the arrest of the Mafia boss Paternò, responsible for the attack on the police station where Sciacca worked in Palermo, the Sant'Andrea agents work tenaciously to uncover the links between the Mafia and the Camorra. Meanwhile in Palermo, a repentant belonging to the Paternò clan claims that Sciacca is actually a corrupt policeman, who was in turn involved in the massacre.
During the demolition of an illegal building, a well-hidden entrance to a bunker is discovered. The superintendent Salvatore Sciacca arrives on the spot who, from some details, intuits that the dangerous mafioso responsible for an attack that took place some time ago in Palermo, right at the police station where Sciacca served, is hiding in the bunker.
At the Vesuvian Observatory a man convinced of having to leave his home against his will has climbed onto the roof and threatens an extreme protest: to throw himself into the void taking his child with him. Police officers will do anything to try to avert the worst.
A man on a scooter is hit by a runaway car. The agents of the Sant'Andrea police station intervene promptly to help him, but they do not find any type of document that can trace his identity. In the seat of the moped, which turns out to be stolen, a clue is found: a rather rare pistol.
The lifeless body of a girl employed as a telephone operator in a call center is found on a deserted beach. Not far away is a car parked which turns out to be registered to a man whose traces have been lost, manager of a telephone company. Suspicions focus on the victim's boyfriend who, after being questioned, attempts suicide.
The body of a university student is found in an attic used as an improvised neighborhood TV. At the crime scene, smashed equipment and a bloodstained easel were also found. The boy ran the small broadcaster together with his girlfriend and a friend, the three young men with their investigations had denounced the illegal activities of a Camorra boss.
A girl looking for help stops a car from the Sant'Andrea police station, the young woman declares that her current boyfriend has set out to find her ex, expressing his intention to kill him. The intervention of the two agents seems to restore calm, but the situation soon worsens unexpectedly.
In a small restaurant by the sea, the lifeless bodies of two Camorristi are found. The owner of the restaurant, seriously injured, is rushed to the hospital. Initially everything suggests a settlement of accounts between rival clans of the Camorra, but the case will prove to be more complex than expected.
The body of a young woman is found at the bottom of an escarpment while Sciacca and Battiston deal with the mysterious kidnapping of a baby who had been entrusted to the babysitter. The little one could be in serious danger because he has respiratory problems. However, the agents are suspicious of a substantial withdrawal of money made by the father on the day of the child's birth.
A cohabiting couple is found dead in the furniture showroom they ran together. The case is entrusted to the new superintendent Salvatore Sciacca who gains the trust of his new colleagues every day. The investigation initially focuses on the family of the woman killed but thanks to his intuition Sciacca will be able to correctly reconstruct a fragmentary mosaic of clues.
The agents of the Sant'Andrea police station, distraught with anger and pain for the loss of Sergio, must concentrate all their efforts to bring the killers and masterminds to justice. The investigations start from the last case followed by their missing colleague, who was investigating an organization dedicated to clandestine betting.
