In the first-season finale, a storm causes a blackout that coincides with the arrival of Barton's estranged wife, and Boyce tries to play peacemaker between her and his father.
Barton makes plans to move to Florida after visiting his brother. Meanwhile, the Ballentines prepare for a big storm—and Barton's estranged wife—headed straight for St. Louis.
A family trip to Las Vegas for rest and relaxation turns into anything but when Barton is tempted by sin, Lolli clashes with the church ladies, and Stamps steals Boyce's spot in a round of celebrity golf.
Gossip about a church member's wife inadvertently reaches its subject; Barton changes his mind about Stamps' girlfriend when he realizes she cooks a fantastic breakfast.
A former backup singer of Boyce's who also became a preacher—but at a much bigger church—decides to give up the spotlight and wants Boyce to break the news to his congregation. Meanwhile, Barton asks Lolli for romantic advice.
The punch gets spiked at Lolli's gathering for female parishioners. Boyce's church is under scrutiny by a clerical organisation.
When Boyce gets preacher's block, Lolli invites his old writing partner to help; Barton and Stamps lock themselves in Boyce's office while installing a new alarm system.
Attending a funeral prompts Barton to announce his own last will and testament; Boyce is visited by his hot ex-girlfriend who is looking for more than just counseling.
Boyce is excited to spend his birthday with Lolli; former neighbors interfere with the surprise party Lolli and the family have planned.
The church choir director convinces Boyce to hire outside singers to rig their competition. Boyce struggles with the decision. Lolli hires Stamps as a hair washer at her salon but discovers that he's doing more than shampooing.
Barton is spending all his time at Boyces house, so Boyce hires him as a senior advisor at the church, but quickly regrets the offer. Lolli thinks Barton needs a woman, and Lyric practices driving with Stamps.
Only being in the ministry for a few weeks, Reverend Boyce Ballantine deals with the ups and downs of his church and family life. Boyce helps his wife Lolli get more customers for her salon. Boyce's daughter Lyric wants to have her sweet sixteen filmed for television.
