In Liverpool, animal welfare officer Matt rescues two dogs living outside with only a TV cabinet for shelter. Meanwhile, three rottweiler crosses are signed over to the RSPCA after their owner can no longer give them the life they need. And Alan meets a raccoon dog called Cedric.
In Merseyside, inspector Anthony rescues two collie crosses who both suffer with terrible skin conditions, and Jaqui tends to a seriously ill shih tzu. Meanwhile, Lewis checks up on Bridget, one of 27 poodles recently rescued from an over-run house in Cornwall.
Inspector Lauren meets a Yorkshire terrier with severe fur loss who may have other problems. Eight dogs are given a second chance at life after being taken off a South Korean menu, and Anthony tries to stop two dogs becoming victims at a crime scene.
A shocking sight awaits Inspector Kris when he visits a property to find Missy, one of the most matted dogs he has ever seen. Vet Laura gets straight to work tackling the trouble, but what exactly will she uncover underneath all that fur? Meanwhile, Keira is concerned when she discovers two dogs living in hazardous conditions.
When two dogs are left confined to one room without food or water, Inspector Anthony Pulfer is straight on the scene. Cameras also follow Snoopy, a young lurcher who was just skin and bones when spotted by three members of the public.
Inspector Kate Ford becomes worried about a staffie-cross that appears to be dangerously underweight. The owner claims to regularly feed the dog, and Kate is desperate to get an appointment with a vet, which proves to be no easy task. At Block Fen RSPCA, staff work to rehabilitate a lurcher that was tied to a fence and abandoned, and a trainee police dog competes against more experienced sniffer hounds in a mission to locate concealed firearms.
Keira Benham fights to save five malnourished and flea-ridden crossbreeds. Meanwhile, an abandoned Staffie is given a second chance, a Jack Russell is re-homed, and Joe White finds a young spaniel with a horrific neck wound.
Mel Fisher rescues a young German shepherd after seeing footage of it being beaten by his owner, and brings the abuser to justice. Meanwhile, inspector Jacquie Miller has her hands full when three generations of dogs are signed over by their owner who is struggling to cope, and Alan checks on Ted, a spaniel rescued from a bedsit, who they hope can join the ranks of the police.
Kate Parker rescues Max, a skinny dog left alone for long periods, and fellow Inspector Sarah Gardner faces a tough decision when she visits a property for the third time to check on dogs Ruby and Jade. Cameras also follow the progress of Ellie, a Dogue de Bordeaux that was left terrified of men after experiencing threatening behaviour at the hands of its previous owner.
Alan catches up with a spaniel that was rescued by the RSPCA, and is now beginning training to become a police sniffer dog. An inspector tries to help a Jack Russell with a skin condition, but the owner is not willing to let her interfere, and a dog is found tied to a radiator with neither food nor water.
The RSPCA are called to the aid of elderly crossbreed Ben and although Anthony has been told that the dog is riddled with fleas, the sight that awaits him is enough to shock even an experienced inspector. Meanwhile, in Lancashire, a struggling couple must improve their living conditions or face losing their beloved Bichon Frise for good.
Inspector Helen saves Turner and Hooch, two Dogues de Bordeaux found abandoned in a garden, while colleague Becky sets off to track down a hound who was spotted stranded in a flood relief channel. Cameras also follow Pepper, a dalmatian who is stealing hearts across Merseyside, and Shih-tzu Olive, who was found in pain on a building site.
RSPCA'S officer Anthony helps Timmy, a neglected elderly collie cross who is found in a house surrounded by his own mess with a huge tumour on his face. Meanwhile, Inspector Helen meets Archie, a stroppy shih-tzu whose fur is so matted he can barely see or hear.
